Troye Sivan Releases Acoustic Version of “My, My, My!”

Just when you start to think that Troye Sivan can’t possibly get any more amazing, he goes and outdoes himself once again. (How does he do it? We must know!) The singer just released the acoustic video for his incredible single “My, My, My!” and it is a must-listen kind of situation.

While the star’s original track is full of heart-thumping beats and catchy hooks (and its accompanying video features trance-like flashing lights), this version shows off Troye’s remarkable vocal range. Plus, it puts the spotlight more on the beautiful lyrics. It’s impossible to decide which one we love more — we just know we’ve been blessed with another addition to our Favorites playlist.

In a recent interview with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, where he performed it acoustic live for the first time, Troye explained that a truly great song will work whether it’s a stripped-down acoustic performance or a flashy, souped-up version.

“I really enjoy performing [this song] acoustically, but for me I think the funnest is doing it with the big band. Because that’s kind of how I imagined the song when I was writing it,” he shared. “But getting to break it down acoustic is always interesting. I heard a really long time ago someone was telling me that the goal as a songwriter should always be… you should be able to strip a song back and play it on piano or just guitar. And if it feels good then, then it’s a good song. And you shouldn’t have to rely on all of the little tricks. The tricks are fun, and that’s why I like them. But it’s always fun to see if it works.”

Works it does, and luckily we don’t really have to choose between which version of the song is “better,” since Troye kills it no matter what.
