After three long and agonizing years, the rock gods above have answered our desperate pleas as the Danish metal band Volbeat gear up to finally release their much-anticipated album, Seal the Deal and Let’s Boogie.

Comprised of 4 key members – Michael Poulsen (vocalist/guitarist), Jon Larsen (percussionist), Rob Caggiano (guitarist), and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bassist) – the Copenhagen natives first rose to fame when Poulsen left his former death metal band Dominus in search for something bigger. After creating their first ever demo tape Beat the Meat and selling over 1,ooo copies, the band signed a record deal with Dutch label Mascot Records. Down the line, the Danish rockers would release a whopping total of five studio albums and one DVD. Every single one of their albums have been certified gold in Denmark making Volbeat a worldwide phenomenon.

Right off the bat, their forthcoming album Seal The Deal and Let’s Boogie welcomes you with a warm, yet vice-gripping hug. The guys have taken their classic, haunting sound and hurled it into the present day. Unlike their previous records that would leap from one style to another, they have done a spectacular job of keeping the sound consistent and solid. Although they venture into a more pop sound in “Rebound”, the overall vibe of it all is pure rock. From the title to the lyrics to the underlying instruments, you can easily see just how much each individual has grown as an artist and how far they’ve come as a whole.

As we venture deeper, “Mary Laveau” and “Mary Jane Kelly” quickly reminds me of The Killers and Metallica, but cranked to a whole other level. They’ve composed these tunes well, all while keeping it true to its thrashing rock roots. “Black Rose” would have to be my favorite song from the collection. It’s catchy, upbeat, and the ideal track for an awesome action flick. Michael’s vocals are as sharp as ever, and the rest of the band’s abilities have definitely not been affected over time.Whether you’re young or old, if you have a passion for rock music, you’ll definitely get on well with this unprecedented album.

Seal The Deal and Let’s Boogie will be released on Friday, June 3.
