What to Expect from the 2016 American Music Awards Tonight

We’re only a few hours away from the 2016 American Music Awards and everyone at Celeb Secrets can hardly contain their excitement!

From the hosts, performers, and presenters to most anticipated moments, here’s everything you can expect from the highest fan-voted award show.

The 2016 American Music Awards airs TONIGHT, November 20th @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC.

The Hosts: This year, super model Gigi Hadid and comedian Jay Pharoah are scheduled to host tonight’s show. We can’t wait to see their opening monologue and all of the different outfits they will wear throughout the evening!

The Performers: James Bay, Fifth Harmony, Lady Gaga, Green Day, Niall Horan, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Shawn Mendes, Twenty One Pilots, The Weeknd, special duets from The Chainsmokers and Halsey, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, and Maroon 5 featuring Kendrick Lamar, DJ Khaled with Nicki Minaj, August Alsina, Future and Rick Ross, Justin Bieber, and “The American Music Award of Merit” honoree and performer Sting will be gracing us with their musical talents throughout the award show.

The Presenters: Mark Cuban, Ansel Elgort, Florida Georgia Line, Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Blake Jenner, Hannah Jeter, Bryce Harper, Jenny McCarthy, Milla Jovovich, Idina Menzel, TJ Miller, Janelle Monae, Olivia Munn, Rachel Platten, Rebecca Romijn, Ryan Seacrest, Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields, Octavia Spencer, Hailee Steinfeld, Chrissy Teigen, Bella Thorne, Matt Bomer, Ciara, Nina Dobrev, Robert Downey Jr., Taraji P. Henson, Julianne Hough, Karlie Kloss, Heidi Klum, Zoe Saldana, Teyana Taylor and Steven Yeun will present awards to their respective winners and introduce the performers to the AMAs stage. 

Coca-Cola Live Red Carpet: One of our favorite parts of the AMAs is the Coca-Cola Live Red Carpet Special! This year, Spencer Ludwig and Emeli Sandé will perform and hosts Rocsi Diaz, Roshon Fegan, AJ Gibson, Kira Kazantsev, George Kotsipoulos, Bailee Madison, Jeannie Mai, and Laura Marano will ask this year’s top artists questions before the big show. It will stream live on Facebook, beginning at 6PM ET/3PM PT.

Most Anticipated Moments: From red carpet fashion to winners and performances, there are many things to look forward to at this year’s AMAs. In addition, two of the most anticipated moments for the 2016 American Music Awards are the highly-coveted New Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year awards. New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile nominees are Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, DNCE, Shawn Mendes and Zayn.  Voting for this category is now open and will close Sunday, November 20 at 5:59:59pm PT. 

The Artist of the Year nominees are Adele, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Drake, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd.  The ten nominees were narrowed to five based on the votes received through Monday, November 14 at 5:00am PT.  The final five nominees were Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Carrie Underwood. Voting for Artist of the Year is now closed. The winner is determined by the total votes received throughout the entire voting period.
