Chelsea Handler Led Women’s March at Sundance Film Festival – All the Details

A historical moment has been made with over 1 million people rallying at women’s marches in the nation’s capitol and all over the world Saturday, January 21.

More than 8,000 people, including celebrities, gathered in Park City, UT during the 2017 Sundance Film Festival for the Women’s March on Main St. The peaceful yet powerful march was led by talk show host, author, and comedian Chelsea Handler. Prior to the march, Handler expressed why she felt the need to take on the responsibility to lead the march:

“If there’s anything I learned in the last year, it’s that we need to be louder and stronger than ever about what we believe in, so I joined some incredible women from around the country to bring our voices together in the streets of Park City”.

She was joined by luminaries of the creative community Charlize Theron, John Legend, Mary McCormack, Nick Offerman, among mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, daughters and sons, and sisters and brothers, among many others, all marching for a cause.

Handler has voiced her opinion several times thru social media and her talk show on not only the election, Planned Parenthood, but on why millennials should get involved. She is extremely passionate about demonstrating respect for freedom, human rights, safety and health; or what she likes to call it “Things We Thought We Were Done Marching For, But Apparently We’re Not.”

Following the march, Handler and McCormick addressed the sea of passionate women and men in their pink “pussycat” hats.

“This isn’t 1917; it’s 2017. We shouldn’t have to fight for progress we’ve already made, but we’re ready to. It’s our duty to take care of the next generation and to ensure that our children have the same access to the essential services that we did…and this is coming from somebody who doesn’t have children”, Handler stated.

Although the marches represent one step to showing progressiveness, it doesn’t end there. The Women’s March have launched a new campaign: 10 Actions for the first 100 Days. To read more about the campaign, click here.
