John Mayer Announces 2022 Tour Dates for “Sob Rock Tour”

John Mayer is heading back out on the road with some new music!

On Friday (July 16), Mayer announced dates for his upcoming 2022 North American tour, the Sob Rock Tour. The GRAMMY award-winning artist plans to perform in 24 cities including New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta and more. It will kick off on February 17th in Albany, New York. The announcement follows the release of his eighth album, Sob Rock.

Mayer’s new record features 10 songs, 4 of which were available prior to the album’s release. Some of those tracks include his 2018 hit, “New Light,” and his two singles from 2019, “I Guess I Just Feel Like” and “Carry Me Away.” He released the music video for his most recent single, “Last Train Home” back in the beginning of June.

In addition to the album and tour news, Mayer dropped a music video for his new single, “Shot in the Dark.” The video playfully draws inspiration from classic music videos released in the ’80s. The singer emotionally sings about trying to get over a former lover. We see him passionately reminiscing and singing against a stained glass window on a rainy evening.

Pre-sale tickets and a limited amount of VIP packages will go on sale on Tuesday, July 20th at 10:00 AM local time and will continue until Wednesday, July 21 at 10:00 PM local time. General tickets go on sale Friday, July 23 at 11:00 AM local time. To sign up for access to pre-sale tickets and to find out more information about the tour, click here.

Additionally, every show will feature an auction to win two separate pairs of front row tickets. The proceeds from the auctions will go to the Back To You Fund, which has supported many charities, including Mayer’s Heart & Armor Foundation, as well as programs supporting at risk youth and the homeless. More information on the auctions can be found here.

Mayer recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He debuted the live performance of “Shouldn’t Matter but It Does.” You can catch him performing next on the TODAY show on Tuesday, July 20.
