Twenty One Pilots Turn the Tide at Jones Beach on The Clancy Tour: Breach 2025 (Review)

There are concerts, and then there are moments that feel stitched into a band’s story forever. And twenty one pilots’ show at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on last Saturday (October 4) was undeniably the latter.

Set against the open water, with the salt air rolling in and the sun slowly dipping behind the stage, The Clancy Tour: Breach 2025 felt tailor-made for reflection, reinvention, and release. For Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun — a duo who have built entire worlds with just a piano, a guitar, a drum kit, and an unwavering emotional core — the iconic Long Island venue became a living, breathing extension of their music.

Twenty one pilots don’t just perform songs, they invite you directly into their creative minds and refuse to let you leave unchanged. Seeing the Columbus, Ohio natives on the water somehow made everything hit harder. The vulnerability. The chaos, The triumph, The connection.

Opening with the pulsating urgency of “Overcompensate,” the night wasted no time establishing its stakes. From there, new Breach standouts like “The Contract” and “RAWFEAR” landed with the same ferocity as longtime fan favorites, instantly proving that this new era isn’t a departure, it’s an evolution.

The setlist moved seamlessly through the band’s sprawling discography, balancing explosive anthems with moments of introspection. “We Don’t Believe What’s on TV,” “Tear in My Heart,” and “Lane Boy” sent waves of movement through the amphitheater, while “Backslide” and “Shy Away” showcased just how effortlessly the band continues to bridge eras without losing identity.

What makes The Clancy Tour: Breach especially striking is how just two people can command a space this massive. No distractions. No excess. Just pure trust in the music — and in the fans who scream every word back. Watching Tyler and Josh onstage is a masterclass in what it means to be a true performer, which is seasoned, fearless and completely themselves.

The intimacy deepened as they made their way to the B-Stage, where cuts like “Routines in the Night,” “Message Man,” and a shortened “Pet Cheetah” stripped the show down to its rawest form. With “Polarize” and “Chlorine,” the crowd of both die-hards and first-timers alike were equally locked in screaming back the lyrics.

Back on the main stage, the emotional weight surged. “Jumpsuit” and “Nico and the Niners” hit with cinematic force, while “Heavydirtysoul” reignited the fire that launched the band into their arena-dominating era. One of the night’s most powerful moments came during “The Line,” as it was performed with haunting precision. It was a true reminder of Tyler Joseph’s ability to make tens of thousands of people feel like they’re alone with him in the room.

Then came the joy.

During “Ride,” a young fan named Atticus joined the band onstage, turning the amphitheater into a celebration of everything twenty one pilots stand for: individuality, courage, and belonging. Shortly after, Josh took the drums into the crowd, igniting one of the loudest reactions of the night. It was proof that the band still thrives on spontaneity and connection.

The encore was nothing short of euphoric. “City Walls” and “Guns for Hands” set the stage before the undeniable one-two punch of “Stressed Out” and “Trees.” As confetti flew and voices echoed across the water, “Trees” closed the night the way only twenty one pilots can, which is communal, cathartic, and unforgettable.

With Breach already amassing massive streaming success and The Clancy Tour: Breach continuing through the end of October, one thing is abundantly clear: twenty one pilots are not coasting on nostalgia. They’re pushing forward — louder, smarter, and more intentional than ever. This tour doesn’t just celebrate who Tyler and Josh have been. It champions who they’re becoming, without ever losing sight of the fans who grew alongside them.
