Even though we’re always celebrating the women in our lives and those we admire from afar, it’s nice to have a day where the entire world joins together to amplify that message loud and clear.
Today (March 8) is International Women’s Day, and there’s no better way to celebrate than to share with you our list of 10 badass women that motivate us to be a better version of ourselves and do better for those around us.
Keep scrolling to see which femmes we’re spotlighting today and don’t forget to let us know which women inspire you by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
Taylor Swift
Amongst everything she has had to deal with, Taylor Swift has persevered through it all and has made changes in the music industry (especially streaming services!) to make sure artists get what they rightfully deserve for their work. She’s also fought back and took back her own power when people felt like they could talk it away from her. She’s an inspiration to all of us!
Chloe Zhao
Chloe Zhao is the first woman of color to receive best director AND best picture for her incredible and moving film, Nomadland. Her achievements are inspiring to young women everywhere, especially in the film industry. Seeing her win these awards make us feel like we can achieve those goals too!
Chloe X Halle
These ladies have been killing it in the music industry and there is absolutely no denying it! Not only have they taken on music, but they are also actresses on Freeform’s Grownish. They work so hard to achieve their dreams and it shows. They are true inspirations to women everywhere!
Simone Biles
At only 23, Simone makes us feel like we could accomplish anything we set our minds to! She has a total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals making her not only the most decorated American gymnast, but the 3rd most decorated gymnast in the entire world. We can’t wait to see her become number one! Only four more medals to go!
Zara Larsson
Her new album Poster Girl is not only a summer hit, but also extremely empowering! Her music inspires us to unleash our best selves into the universe and not give a single care. Zara is also celebrating International Women’s Day with a special live on YouTube! She’ll be performing songs off of Poster Girl as well as her most popular hits.
Amanda Gorman
As a Harvard graduate, she delivered her moving poem, “The Hill We Climb,” during the inauguration this year, becoming the youngest inaugural poet in U.S. history. Her poem spoke about the need for unity and healing in this country, inspiring many, including us! We can’t wait to see what she does in the future.
Chrissy Teigen
Even though we love Chrissy’s recipes and think she’s absolutely hilarious, she’s also very real and true to herself. This past year, she suffered a miscarriage and was brave enough to share a story that so many women go through. This allowed for others to relate to her pain while also shedding a light on something that isn’t talked about enough.
Olivia Rodrigo
At barely 18-years-old, Olivia has already made incredible strides in her career! Her debut single “drivers license” is still breaking so many records this year and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change anytime soon. It shows us that even though it’s hard, we’re able to get through a breakup… and not being with that person may change our lives for the better.
Demi Lovato
She’s gone through hell and back, and she’s still standing here tall, strong, and ready to take on the world. Demi has been very open about her past struggles with addiction and mental health issues, something that a lot of celebrities don’t do. She’s giving a voice to many that don’t have it, especially with her documentary, Dancing with the Devil , it’ll help start the conversation for many.
Zendaya
Zendaya has inspired many young people with her incredible and moving roles throughout her acting career. She was recently honored with the SeeHer Award at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards for precisely that! She is making big moves in her career that inspire us to want to do the same.
