The 2025 MTV VMAs are taking over Long Island this evening, bringing all of our favorite music industry icons and up-and-comers together for a can’t-miss show at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY.
While the VMAs are always iconic, this year’s will really have everyone talking for many reasons. From nominees and performances to a new hosting format and special guests, this year’s show is about to turn heads for all the right reasons. Plus, artists like Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Sabrina Carpenter are up for a ton of hardware this evening, LL Cool J will be hosting the big show, and Tate McRae will make her main stage debut for an unforgettable performance that we know we’ll be watching over and over.

When are the 2025 MTV VMAs?
The 2025 MTV VMAs air TONIGHT, September 7th @ 8:00 PM, ET/5:00 PM, PT for the first time ever on the CBS Television Network, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. The official 2025 “VMAs” Pre-Show will air this evening at 7:00pm ET/PT on MTV and BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
Where can you watch the show?
As we just mentioned, you can watch the 2025 MTV VMAs LIVE on CBS beginning at 8PM ET / 5PM PT. It will also simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S.
Will there be a red carpet?
This year’s red carpet is expected to bring out all of our favorite celebs, and there’s no doubt that they’ll deliver iconic looks when they pose for photos before going into the 2025 MTV VMAs.
This year, the VMAs pre-show will be hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney and will feature a special performance by KATSEYE, who are set to sing their songs “Gnarley” and “Gabriela” from their new EP Beautiful Chaos. The tracks landed them their first Billboard 200 Top Five and two VMA nominations, including MTV PUSH Performance of the Year and Best Group.
Fans can get in on the action when by tuning into the special event beginning at 7:00PM ET/4:00PM PT on MTV and BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
Who is nominated?
To no surprise, Lady Gaga leads the pack with twelve chances to win a moon person this year! Bruno Mars isn’t too far with eleven nominations, with Kendrick Lamar racking up ten.
Additionally, MTV recently unveiled the VMA nominees in the social categories for 2025 earlier this week, which includes “Song of Summer” and “Best Group.” With these new nods, Tate McRae is officially a six-time nominee this year, tying with Billie Eilish. Sabrina Carpenter adds her ninth nomination (queen behavior), while Alex Warren proves his breakout year is very real with four nods total

What about the performers?
The VMAs are known for putting on some of the biggest and buzzworthy performances in award show history, and this year will be no different. Later tonight, viewers will see Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin ft. DJ Snake, Ricky Martin, Sabrina Carpenter, sombr, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, Post Malone with Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Tate McRae and Video Vanguard Award recipient Mariah Carey all take the stage throughout the three-hour telecast, with performances from Bailey Zimmerman ft. the Kid LAROI, Lola Young and Megan Moroney on the Extended Play Stage Presented by Doritos®.

Big celebs are headed to Long Island to present hardware to this year’s nominees, including Alix Earle, Ashlee Simpson Ross, Brittany Snow, Ciara, “KPop Demon Hunter’s” EJAE, REI AMI + Audrey Nuna (Huntr/x), Ice Spice, Jessica Simpson, Latto, Livvy Dunne, Malin Ackerman, Meg Stalter, Nikki Glaser and Paris Hilton.
Is there a host?
This year, LL COOL J will take over the mic to help deliver some of the biggest moments of the night to fans inside the arena and viewers watching at home.
What else do I need to know?
Mariah Carey will be awarded the Video Vanguard Award during the live telecast, as she is confirmed to perform her biggest hits on the VMAs stage.
