If you thought the Y2K pop star era was a relic of the past, think again. On Wednesday night (July 22), rising pop powerhouse Kylie Cantrall proved that the high-energy, main-character energy we’ve all been craving is alive, well, and completely taking over.
Celeb Secrets was right in the center of the crowd at the iconic Roxy Theatre on Sunset Boulevard for Kylie’s first-ever headlining show to celebrate the release of her brand-new EP, Valley Girl Problems — and let’s just say it was absolutely electric.
Despite the summer heat, dedicated fans lined the Sunset Strip for hours before doors opened just to secure a spot at the barricade. While The Roxy is famous for its legendary, intimate setup, the sold-out room was so packed that it felt like an arena compressed into a single venue. Getting to experience an artist’s major career milestone live is always special, but getting to hear an entire unreleased EP played live from front to back alongside a room full of die-hards was pure magic.
Kylie kicked off the night with “the boy is yours” from her previous album B.O.Y. Right away, the tone was set with sharp choreography, crisp vocals, and total confidence.
After soaking in the deafening cheers of the crowd, Kylie took a moment to express how grateful she was to sell out The Roxy for her headline debut. She promised the night would be packed with dancing, fun, and maybe a few tears — and she delivered on every single front.

Taking the crowd on a genuine story-driven journey, Kylie walked us through Valley Girl Problems from start to finish. She began by introducing “GRWM,” explaining that the track was written specifically for getting ready with your crew before a night out. To bring that exact pre-game energy to life, she brought her real-life besties on stage to dance along with her.
Moving into the title track, “Valley Girl Problems,” Kylie laughed with the crowd as she admitted there were actually 10 different versions of the song. The inspiration hit after she realized during an interview that she had a natural Valley girl accent, turning the funny realization into an instant pop anthem.
When it came to her previously previewed singles like “Carrie Bradshaw” and “Closet,” the crowd sang back every single lyric so loud it shook the floorboards.

As the interludes “the problem” and “the answer” echoed through the room, the atmosphere shifted into something much deeper. Kylie opened up about real-life heartbreak — not just from romantic relationships, but from lost friendships.
Before diving into “Girls Like U,” Kylie dropped a juicy disclaimer that sent a shockwave through the room, telling the crowd, “I won’t name any names… but you know who you are.”
The room went completely silent before dissolving into audible gasps as she sang through “Girls Like U,” “YUCK!”, and “Space Between.” Fans hung on every word as Kylie addressed online speculation directly through her lyrics. Even on the unreleased track “Space Between,” the crowd somehow already knew the chorus, leading to an emotional moment where Kylie couldn’t hold back tears as all the feelings came rushing back.

Before the night ended, Kylie had one more trick up her sleeve and surprised the room by premiering the official music video for “Closet” on the venue screens before its global drop. The deafening chant for an encore brought her back out to close with the fan-favorite track “Goodie Bag.” But the biggest news came right before her final bow, when Kylie officially announced that she is heading out on her first-ever headlining tour this fall.
After watching Kylie perform in front of her biggest fans, its clear that the 21-year-old isn’t just following the pop star playbook — she’s rewriting it with the exact blend of main-character swagger, Y2K nostalgia, and raw vulnerability that our generation has been waiting for. And we can’t wait to see what she does next.
