Beauty and fashion influencer Aaliyah Jay can officially call herself a fashion designer!
The 27-year-old Boston bred, New York raised and LA-based content creator just launched her rebranded line, Twisted Saints, with three new items that are perfect for both a date with your S/O or a night on the town with your favorite gal pals.
When asked about putting her latest venture in the world, Jay got real with Celeb Secrets by mentioning that it feels “very scary.”
“I think I feel like the normal thing to say is that it feels great, but it’s really so scary. I’m literally taking the chance on myself, I’m taking risk; It’s very scary because I’ve started from nothing with this fashion brand I’m just trying to figure out literally everything as I go along,” she told CS exclusively. “But if you don’t take the risk, you get no reward. So it is also very rewarding. I’m learning so many new things every single day, so in the end it’s very rewarding.”
The collection, which is now available on her brand’s official website, includes a sheer patterned mesh top, leather pants and cut out yellow and a blue bodycon dress.
“I would describe [these items] as vintage daring, very edgy and very colorful,” Jay shares. “I have this one dress that’s blue and green — it’s not a typical color that people will go after, but the style and cut of it is a typical style that is very relatable and they’ll be able to wear it anywhere they want. They won’t be afraid of it and it will introduce a lot of people to color.”
As for what’s next, Aaliyah hopes to expand Twisted Saints with more seasonal collections, with one of her biggest goals being a runway show at New York Fashion Week.
“I’m creating three collections at once and it is the craziest experience ever! I’m working on summer, next fall, spring and winter collections, so [Twisted Saints] will see it all,” she says.
In the meantime, Aaliyah will continue to post videos to her YouTube channel daily, which include vlogs, fashion and beauty tutorials, fashion history videos and fashion commentary.
