Adam Rose Talks the Origin of His Iconic Blue Cardigan, as Well as His Unexpected Rise to Social Media Stardom (Exclusive)

From acting to writing to directing to creating social media content, is there anything that Adam Rose can’t do?

The multi-talented personality is known for posting comedic videos that are sure to leave you with an ear-to-ear grin. It’s no wonder why he has amassed over four million followers on TikTok AND secured collaborations with stars like Ashley Tisdale, Paula Abdul, Cost n’ Mayor, the Jonas Brothers and more.

Aside from his Internet success, Rose has starred in NBC‘s New AmsterdamDisney‘s Hamster & Gretel, Netflix‘s Merry Happy Whatever and over 30 other movies and television shows. The Israeli is even set to write, direct and star in his debut feature film VERY soon.

At his first-ever VidCon as a featured creator, Celeb Secrets caught up with the multi-talented personality, where we discussed his journey from the mainstream Hollywood world into the social media world, how he got his nickname of “Blue Cardigan Guy” and more.

What kickstarted Rose’s social media success was a parody dance video that depicted different versions of the popular TikTok dance move, “The Woah.”

“My wife saw the video before I posted it and she was like, ‘I bet you some people might do that dance,’ because it was like a parody dance trend that I did,” he shared with Celeb Secrets reporter Nona Melkonian. “It immediately got a million views by 8:00 PM that night [and] five million views by the next morning. Tens of thousands of people [were] doing the dance around the world.”

While this video is essentially the origin of his TikTok fame, it is NOT what Adam Rose became known for. Unexpectedly, his choice of clothing is what made waves on social media, awarding him with the title of “Blue Cardigan Guy” across the entire globe.

“So the cardigan thing… I wore it in one of my very early videos. The first video that ever went viral for me,” the social media star explained. “I was wearing it and I was like, ‘Okay, let me wear it in the next video so people know that was me,’ and then I wore it again, and I wore it again, and I wore it again, and then I didn’t wear it in one video and people were very upset.”

“They were like, ‘We didn’t sign up for Red Hoodie Guy. We want Blue Cardigan Guy,’ and so the blue cardigan just stuck,” he concluded with a smile, before teasing something VERY exciting he has in the works.

“There may or may not be a line of cardigans coming at some point… You gotta stay tuned,” Rose revealed in our exclusive interview. It is safe to say that we will be checking his Instagram every day until we can buy one for ourselves!

When asked what advice he would give to those who want to achieve social media success like he has, Adam Rose shared that “It’s never been more possible” given the climate of the industry right now.

“I think with platforms like TikTok, YouTube [and] Instagram reels, we are seeing more opportunities for discoverability than ever before. It’s so much easier for someone with zero followers to go viral or build a following all of a sudden,” he shared with Celeb Secrets.

“It does take consistency. It takes hard work [and it] takes a little bit of luck sometimes, but it’s incredibly possible. You just gotta stay consistent, experiment, try things, see what works [and] lean into those things. That’s my best advice,” the internet sensation concluded, and we seriously couldn’t agree more.
