Bryce Leatherwood is Proud to Have “Stayed True to Himself” Throughout his Journey on ‘The Voice’ (Exclusive)

It’s been a whirlwind two days for Georgia native Bryce Leatherwood!

The 22-year-old country singer took a leap of faith after auditioning for Season 22 of The Voice this year, ultimately receiving three out of four chair turns before capturing the hearts of viewers nationwide each week.

But on Tuesday (December 13), all of the hard work paid off, as host Carson Daly revealed that he won the entire competition, beating out fellow finalists Brayden Lape and Bodie (Team Blake Shelton); Morgan Myles (Team Camila Cabello) and Omar Jose Cardona (Team John Legend).

“All I can say is wow…it was crazy to hear my name being called,” Leatherwood said to Celeb Secrets reporter Ilana Epstein when reflecting on his big win. “The goal was to make my family proud, but it seems that I’ve made a lot more people proud than just my family.”

And he sure made many more proud.

The 22-year-old became an instant fan favorite after performing his stellar rendition of Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time” for the Blind Auditions, setting him up to be a top contender to take home the title from the beginning.

Teaming up with country superstar Blake Shelton for the competition, Leatherwood tells Celeb Secrets that the experience has been nothing short of incredible.

“I am very proud to call [Blake] my coach,” he says.

As for what’s next, Bryce says that he will continue to post infectious covers of classic country hits on TikTok while working on his own music.

In terms of what people can expect from his original music, the country crooner shares that “people are going to hear and old-school sound combined with modern ways of today’s country music, in the most respect to the classic way.

“They’ll be thrilled to hear it,” he says with a smile.

While he’s grateful to be the most recent artist to carry The Voice torch, the Georgia native is ready for a well-deserved break over the holiday season.

“My next few days are plain and simple… I’ll be doing absolutely nothing,” he jokes. “I dont even know what day of the week it is anymore.”

And while Leatherwood has grown tremendously throughout his journey on The Voice, he’s grateful that he stayed true to himself. He said that some of the best advice he gained was from none other than his coach.

“[Blake told me that] if carry yourself in the right way, people will love who you are. I will carry that till the day I die,” he shares.
