The “Holding Out For A Hero” singer packed her bags and moved to the Big Apple to elevate her craft. While learning the ins and outs of the industry and collaborating with leading names like Jim Steinman – the hitmaker quickly scored a record deal with Cash Money Records. “It happened at a time when I least expected it,” Hannah confessed. “I’d been working so hard for so long, and then Cash Money came into the picture.”
With a dependable support system, the blonde vocalist released her chart-topping 2016 debut single, “Burning Up,” a beat-driven track that displays her astonishing range. Karine Hannah has grown as a vocalist since she exploded onto the scene, and her more recent rendition of “Separate Ways” by Journey is a testament to that.
Following the death of Eddie Van Halen, the songstress decided to step outside her comfort zone and play with old-world ballads – reimaging iconic hits serves as a tribute. Therefore, when the idea to record “Separate Ways” suddenly came to her, she did not hesitate to jump into her home studio to make some magic.
“This song means so much to me. First of all, I can relate to the lyrics, and the melody is so empowering and catchy. I knew that this would be a great match for my voice,” Hannah exclusively told Celeb Secrets while also pointing out that it was a challenge to put a fresh twist on a fan-favorite melody.
“It’s not easy taking a song from an artist that has one of the greatest voices in pop history,” she stressed. “Steve Perry is one of the greatest, and I know that even though I am a female vocalist, there still will be comparisons and many opinions. In this particular song, I decided not to steer too far from the original because, in my opinion, you just don’t tamper with perfection, but I did put what I called the Karine isms into it,” she added.
Karine Hannah flawlessly executed the early 2000s smash hit, as her angelic vocals shine through and complement the simplistic instrumentals. Karine’s unique take on the track serves as a reminder to fans to listen closely and appreciate the deep meaning behind the lyrics.
“Separate Ways” follows her buzz-worthy rendition of Van Halen’s “Jump” and Bonnie Tyler’s classic “Holding Out For A Hero,” Hannah told Celeb Secrets that she’s slowly working on a cover album that will be bursting with captivating melodies and gearing up for some live shows.
“As I keep recording songs for the inspired re-recording project, I’m putting together a live show to promote this album,” she said, full of excitement. “I hope that when I feel comfortable with the covid situation, I can get back on the road and tour,” she concluded.
