One of our fav boy bands today, Midnight Red, released their newest single “Hell Yeah” a few weeks ago. Let us just say that here at CelebSecrets4U it has been on REPEAT ever since its iTunes debut! It is DEFINITELY our summer jam! Midnight Red is a group of 5 young and talented performers who have already toured with New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, wowing audiences across the country with their infectious and energizing club tracks. Midnight Red’s debut album is coming soon on Interscope Records. We chatted it up with Joey Diggs, Jr from the band who spilled all about the track, performing with Carly Rae Jepsen, and more! As a band you have been together for about 3 years, how did you all meet up?
“Eric and Anthony started a group together years back that didn’t quite work out. Being friends & working with each other prior, Eric then brought in Thomas from Texas. They found me (Joey) through a producer they were working with at the time and found Colton through his infamous YouTube videos.”
How did you come up with your band name, Midnight Red?
“The name actually came to me in a dream! We had been through countless names that either didn’t work out or didn’t sound cool at all. One night I had a dream to use the name “Midnight” then we added the “Red” in part-homage of our super producer RedOne.”
You opened for New Kids On The Block back in 2011! What was that experience like?
“It was amazing to actually learn and study off of these great groups that have been doing this for years! We can only hope to have as much success & longevity as they’ve had.”
You guys also got to perform with Carly Rae Jepsen at CityWalk back in April! How was the show?
“The show was CRAZY! The RedHeads (That’s what our fans call themselves) came and partied the night away with us and Carly Rae; she was a sweetheart and we all just had a great time up there.”
You JUST released “Hell Yeah!” How did you come up with the concept for both the song and video?
“The song was actually the last song we recorded in Paris, France with RedOne. The song really captures the essence of what Midnight Red stands for: wild, crazy fun & a good time! The music video, directed by Declan Whitebloom, was part inspired by the movie ‘Project X’. The song and video both have high energy and are guaranteed to make you dance.”
What can we expect from you guys in the future?
“Expect the unexpected! We as Midnight Red really want to set ourselves apart from the rest of the groups out there in today’s music. We have a lot to offer so we just hope everyone is ready.”
