Chris Lane is more than just a country singer. The Kernersville, NC native is also a devoted husband and father, and he’s detailing his love for his family in his new single “If I Die Before You.”
Lyrically genuine and melodically candescent, the track, which dropped on music streaming platforms earlier today (October 11), was written by James McNair, Seth Mosely (producer) and Emily Weisband.
Striking an emotional chord inside him — which the 39-year-old says is “hard to do” — Chris knew that from the moment he heard it, he had to record it.
“[From] the first moment that I heard the song, I loved everything about it. I’m not a super emotional person and it’s hard strike an emotional chord in me, but this song did it. I loved everything about it,” Chris tells Celeb Secrets host Juliet Schroder exclusively in a virtual interview.

Known for dropping some of the most heart-tugging, romantic tunes like “Big Big Plans,” “I Don’t Know About You,” “For Her,” and “Take Back Home Girl,” “If I Die Before You” fits perfectly with his catalogue of love songs as it’s not only relatable, but also sweet and sad at the same time.
On how “If I Die Before You” will impact country music fans worldwide, Chris says, “I feel like because I can relate to this song, there’s a lot of people that will be able to relate to the song. [My wife] Lauren says all the time, ‘if something were to ever happen to me, make sure the boys know how much I care and that I love them.’ It’s a very sad thought to have, but I think most people probably [do] have.”
Alongside the emotionally touching message found through Lane‘s latest single comes an even sweeter visual featuring the 39-year-old’s wife, Lauren Lane, and their two sons Dutton, 3, and Baker, who will turn 2 this week.
Sharing that it was important to “keep it real” with his current stage of life and how he relates to the song, Lane says that there “wouldn’t have been a music video” if his family didn’t star in it.
“We went to a little farm here in Nashville, and I was wondering if the boys were going to cooperate, but they loved doing it. When they watch themselves on the screen, the smiles on their faces are incredible. Dutton thinks he’s a star right now.”

While he’s hard at work making new music, Chris is also gearing up to hit the road with Rascal Flatts as support for their recently announced Life Is A Highway reunion tour launching in February 2025.
“I’m so stoked for it,” Chris says of touring with the iconic country trio.
For those who don’t know, Chris was supposed to hit the road with band members Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney for their farewell tour in 2020, however, the Coronavirus pandemic halted the run due to social distancing requirements, meaning that this opportunity is extra special.
“I was a part of their 2020 farewell tour that didn’t get to happen, so to be invited back out on the 25th anniversary is going to be so much fun. I toured with those guys back in 2017, and I’m really looking forward to this tour.”
