From Missy Cooper to Courtroom Chaos: Raegan Revord Shines in “Night Court” Finale (Exclusive)

The Night Court Season 3 finale just dropped a twist bigger than Sheldon Cooper’s ego — and Young Sheldon star Raegan Revord was right in the middle of the madness.

The hour-long finale, which aired May 6 on NBC, was full of nostalgia, legendary guest stars, and one jaw-dropping Big Bang Theory mic drop. But before Simon Helberg showed up to throw a literal ring into Abby’s engagement plans, another familiar face from the Big Bang universe came crashing into court — and her name was Shelby, a teenage runaway with a big heart, questionable decision-making skills, and a soft spot for impulsive marriage proposals.

Played by Revord (aka Missy Cooper), Shelby stole scenes — and hearts — with her chaotic yet heartfelt storyline. “She’s so set on marrying this guy she thinks is her soulmate,” Raegan told Celeb Secrets in our exclusive interview. “But then she has some self-reflective moments and starts to question everything. It was just such a fun role.”

And fun it was. From bold declarations of love to courtroom meltdowns, Shelby’s character paid homage to a classic Night Court moment featuring Michael J. Fox — and Raegan did her homework. “I knew it was a really special episode, and I wanted to get it right,” she said. “I researched the original series and asked so many questions on set. I just wanted to honor that legacy.”

Legacy was a running theme throughout the finale, especially when Big Bang fans got hit with the ultimate surprise: Simon Helberg’s character, Spencer, turning out to be Abby’s HUSBAND?! The stunned silence from Jake (Ryan Hansen) and Dan (John Larroquette) said it all — and so did Spencer’s smug kiss and ring flash. Bernadette and Howard, back on our screens? We were not emotionally prepared.

But while the internet is collectively spiraling over that twist, Raegan says working alongside TV legends was just as surreal. “John Larroquette was intimidating at first — he’s an icon,” she shared. “But he’s actually a big softie. We talked about Billie Eilish for like an hour!”

Her favorite moment? A secret fangirl confession. “Melissa [Rauch] told me John’s a huge Young Sheldon fan, but he won’t admit it,” she said with a laugh. “Then on the last day, he walked up to me and said, ‘I’m only saying this once,’ and just gave me the sweetest compliments about my character. And then he walked off! It was so cute.”

The vibe on set was pure love — even with the uncertainty of a renewal hanging in the air. “It was bittersweet,” Raegan told us. “Finales always have that energy, like you’re so proud of the work, but also not sure if it’s goodbye or just ‘see you later.’ Everyone was just soaking it all in.”

For Raegan, stepping out of Missy Cooper’s sneakers and into Shelby’s heels (metaphorically) was the start of a new chapter — one she’s fully embracing. “Being on Young Sheldon was the best experience, and that set really raised me. But I’m super excited to explore new characters, especially ones like Shelby who are just so layered and chaotic.”

And while Night Court hasn’t officially been renewed for Season 4 (NBC, hurry up!), the finale was filled with love and pride behind the scenes. “It was bittersweet,” Revord admitted. “You never know if you’re going to come back or not. But you could just tell everyone was so proud of their work. The cast and crew all just love each other so much. It was just such a warm, welcoming, open set.”

After wrapping up Young Sheldon earlier this year — she joined the series at age 9 and grew up in front of the camera — Raegan says she’s beyond grateful for the stable, supportive community that raised her. “It really just felt like one big family,” she said. “You’d walk on set and have inside jokes and handshakes with everyone. I miss everyone so much.”

But now, the 16-year-old is onto her next chapter. She’s dipping into comedy, embracing complex characters, and (drumroll please)… entering her author era.

“I have my book coming out September 2nd,” she revealed. “I’m really putting a ton of time and dedication into that. I’ve been in my book era since I was five, honestly — but this is my official author era now!”

Whether she’s playing a sarcastic twin in Texas or a lovestruck teen in court, one thing’s clear: Raegan Revord is only just getting started.
