You’ve got your snack and drink choice ready as your weekly TV show binge watch day or movie night rolls around, but now you’re stuck because you don’t know what to watch.
Well, Netflix announced Wednesday, April 28 that their new shuffle play feature called “Play Something” has launched and is ready to end all your endless scrolling dilemmas.
The streaming platform will be rolling out the new shuffle feature that once clicked, Play Something will curate either a show or movie you’ve never seen before based on what you have previously watched and your interests – think of it a little like Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” playlist.
If what the function picks for you isn’t something you’d be interested in, you can keep hitting the option and it’ll select a different choice, something you’re already watching that you may have forgotten of, something from your watchlist, or a series or film that you finished but haven’t seen in a while.
“There are times when we just don’t want to make decisions. A Friday evening after a long work week. A fridge full of food but nothing jumps out. A family movie night where no one can agree. We’ve all been there. Sometimes you just want to open Netflix and dive right into a new story. That’s why we’ve created ‘Play Something’,” says Cameron Johnson, the Netflix’s director of product innovation in a statement.
“When you hit the ‘Play Something’ button, you’ll be instantly met with a series or film we know you’ll love based on what you’ve watched before,” he added.
The feature can be found in multiple ways on the screen: underneath your profile name, the navigation menu on the left of the screen, and in case you do end up scrolling it can also be found on the tenth row of your Netflix homepage.
Play Something will be available on the Netflix TV apps to subscribers worldwide, and the streaming company will begin launching the function for Android devices soon.
