Isabela Merced Heats Up the Summer with “Apocalipsis” — A Revamped Salsa-Pop Love Letter to Peru (Listen)

Fresh off a banner year starring in The Last of Us and the #1 box office smash Superman, Isabela Merced isn’t slowing down — she’s turning up the heat. The 22-year-old multi-hyphenate is back in the music spotlight with “Apocalipsis,” a smoldering salsa reinvention of one of her most beloved tracks, produced by none other than Tony Succar — the Peruvian powerhouse who’s taken home 2 GRAMMY® Awards and 2 Latin GRAMMY® Awards.

Originally crafted in 2020 with her brother Gyovanni Moner, “Apocalipsis” was already rich in passion and storytelling. But this new version? It’s a full-blown explosion of Latin rhythm, blending classic salsa instrumentation with sleek, modern pop elements in a way that only Merced and Succar could pull off.

“Music wise, I have a single coming out in August,” Merced told Celeb Secrets exclusively back in July over a Zoom call. “It’s with a Peruvian producer — the first Peruvian to win a Grammy. He’s coming up with an EP to follow up his win as a sort of like, ‘Yeah, I’m still going and I’ve got more to show you.’ And we teamed up on one of the songs there. It’s amazing. It’s a salsa tropical song and it’s in Spanglish, as I do frequently. I think it’s a love letter to Peru, it’s a love letter to the fans of my music. There’ll be a video and it’s super sexy and fun. And it came from my mind, my imagination. So I’m really excited to continue expressing myself creatively.”

Recorded between Miami and Los Angeles, “Apocalipsis” bridges more than just time zones — it unites generations of Peruvian artistry. Succar’s electrifying percussion and horn arrangements give the track its heartbeat, while Merced’s sultry, bilingual vocals set it ablaze.

“’Apocalipsis’ has always been one of my most passionate songs, and hearing it come alive in salsa feels like it’s been reborn,” Merced shared in a statement. “Tony brought this explosive energy and authenticity that made me fall in love with the song all over again. It’s our love letter to Peru, to salsa, and to the joy of making music that moves your soul and your body.”

And the chemistry between Merced and Succar is undeniable. “’Apocalipsis’ is pure fire — a connection so intense it feels like the world might end,” Succar added. “We wanted to capture that feeling in a rhythm that makes you move but also feel deeply. Collaborating with Isabela has been an incredible experience; she’s an artist who understands fusion and respects our roots.”

With its hypnotic grooves, irresistible hooks, and rich cultural heartbeat, Apocalipsis is more than just a summer anthem — it’s a statement. Isabela Merced has officially entered her next era, one that’s fearless, fiery, and unapologetically Latina.
