ABC’s engrossing drama, A Million Little Things has been keeping us on the edge of our seats for the past two seasons, ending with a huge cliffhanger in last night’s finale.
Created by DJ Nash, the series expertly mines the emotional lives of a diverse group of friends as they struggle in the aftermath of tragedy. Blessed with a gifted ensemble cast who bring the series’ richly drawn characters to life, A Million Little Things has become one of television’s most popular dramas.
At a special screening and panel in Beverly Hills last month, we asked Allison Miller — who plays Maggie on the show — what made her be a part of A Million Little Things. She told us it was because of how real and true the show was to her.
“I read the part of the script where Rome confesses to his friends at a hockey game that he’s been dealing with depression and was considering suicide and I cried,” said Allison. “I cried because it felt like it was something we needed to have on television. A man being vulnerable in front of his friends and his friends being there to support him every step of the way.”
Adding, “I made a promise to myself a few years ago that I was only going to work on projects that were positive for the viewer and I think that’s what we are doing with A Million Little Things.”
One of the biggest lessons A Million Little Things teaches its viewers is friendship. We asked Jason Ritter, who’s Eric on the show, what friendship meant to him. He said, “friendship to me means being there for one another and knowing that they’ll be there for you too; no matter what. And while true friendship is rare, it exists.”
Gabriel Mann, the composer of the show said Eddie Saville (played by David Giuntoli) is the most musical when it comes to his character. “While he’s a musician, he goes through so much serious stuff that there’s a lot of deep musical things that happen to him personally.”
While we wait to hear more on the series’ third season, seasons one and two are available for binging on ABC and Hulu.
