Jenna DeVries is Calling Out People Who Don’t Practice What They Preach in New Song “Hell is Real” (Premiere)

Hot off the heels of her long awaited self-titled LP, her WSM Radio debut, and a sold out release show, country-rock powerhouse Jenna DeVries is delivering yet another heavy hitter with the release of her new song “Hell Is Real,” out this Friday, September 13th.

DeVries is giving Celeb Secrets readers an exclusive first look at the bold visual before it hits music platforms later this week, and it’s one that you certainly shouldn’t miss. Filmed inside a church while donning a punk-inspired school girl look, DeVries prances around the pews while singing meaningful lyrics that call out people who don’t practice what they preach.

When speaking about this new single, DeVries tells us, “I don’t understand the concept of hell and truly never have. A loving god doesn’t send people to be tortured for eternity — I just don’t believe that. The song is meant to make people stop and think — if this song makes you angry, it might mean you really need to stop and wonder why.”

“This is an anthem for all my LGBTQIA+ family, black sheep, and other outcasts who have been damned to hell a time or two. The ones who were kicked out of their communities or abandoned by loved ones because of religion or politics. We don’t need to be saved. Remember that. We are fighting for the future we want to live in. Remember to get out and vote – because if we don’t see a blue wave, then hell just might become real after all,” she continues.

Set to be featured on her upcoming album Prosperity Gospel, “Hell Is Real” is more than just a new song. It’s a statement… and a very personal one.

DeVries, an LGBTQ+ country artist and an acclaimed talent named as one of NSAI’s ‘Songwriters To Watch,’ has had an impressive career trajectory, including a coveted spot in the Top 24 on American Idol. Her hit single, “Daddy’s Little Heart Attack,” was spotlighted by major music outlets and the entire project was celebrated internationally.

Beyond her personal success Jenna strongly advocates for the LGBTQ+ community, specifically within the country genre, where being queer isn’t always as accepted by the fanbase. She launched The Outlaw Collective, a monthly showcase series to uplift other LGBTQ+ artists, which has been featured on Today in Nashville and other platforms. Her single, “Back to Me,” was spotlighted on various Spotify, Audiomack and TIDAL, Apple Music editorial playlists, including Fresh Finds Country on Spotify.
