Jenna Raine’s Brand New EP “Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2” Serves as a ‘More Positive Take On Growing Up’ Compared to Her Previous Project (Exclusive)

Jenna Raine is back and better than ever with her brand new EP, Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2, ultimately kickstarting a brand new era for the musical maestro.

Back in May, Celeb Secrets chatted with the Texas native about the release of Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 1 (consisting of the songs “Crickets,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Fade Away,” “She’s There” and “Bad Hearts“), which is night and day different than the project she put out today (August 25).

“This EP is meant to capture the loneliness I felt, while also feeling the loneliness of the people around me. It’s me wanting to retell that story and bring it back to the light, because I know that there are people in a similar place that could use this EP,” she gushed in our previous interview.

“I want [listeners] to realize that there are so many people in the world that feel alone, and you’re not alone in your loneliness. I want them to know that there’s a space for people to be able to discuss what they’re feeling and stop hiding it from others,” the soon-to-be superstar continued, however, Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2 puts a much more positive spin on growing up…

When asked about her brand new EP in an exclusive interview, Jenna explained to Celeb Secrets reporter Melanie Rooten, “This EP is chapter two of a little bit of a music series I’ve got going on. I’ve already come out with Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 1, which is more of a sad take on life and emotions and just growing up, but this second EP, this second chapter, I’m so excited for, because I have just been wanting to be a light in a dark world, and I feel like I’ve just been, you know, releasing a lot of sad stuff.”

“For this second EP, I decided to put a complete twist on just the message behind all of the lyrics, and it’s just a more positive take on growing up and adulthood and saying hi to new friends, I guess, and just great people being in your life. So, this second EP I’m so beyond excited for, and I think it captures the exact moment that I’m in in life right now, which is very exciting, because I’m finally telling my own story,” the 19-year-old continued passionately.

As far as “telling [her] own story” goes, Jenna has continued to “go back to how [she] felt in high school” as her primary inspiration when creating these hot new tunes.

“I think I was in a habit of writing for other people a lot, because I did this like 100 song challenge thing on TikTok and would write whatever people wanted me to write, whether it was from my particular emotions or not, but lately I have been thinking about 16, 17 year old me and being like, ‘What music did I need at that point in time?’ and that’s kind of what I’ve been taking inspiration from is just what I think me and my friends needed at that point in our lives,” the rising superstar revealed to Celeb Secrets.

“I think there’s a huge space and like a lot of room for artists to like write happy music and to write uplifting stuff that’s gonna make you smile and laugh and like create happy memories rather than associating really sad stuff to the songs, so I’ve been kind of taking inspiration from that and kind of writing to my younger self” — we are so happy to hear that Jenna is being as genuine as can be!

One of the most notable tracks on Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2 is a song titled “It Is What It Is,” which dropped earlier this summer (July 21) and has been making waves on social media ever since — the story behind this track is seriously one-of-a-kind!

“I had just gotten back from tour with Joshua Bassett, and it was a London flight, so I was super jet lagged and super exhausted,” Jenna shared, prior to telling the chaotic story of her shrinking her two favorite pairs of jeans, leaving the lights on in her car and more.

“I was kind of panicking before this session, so I walked in and they’re like, ‘Well, like how has life been? Like what do you wanna write about?’ and I was like, ‘Well I have this title, but it’s like supposed to be about heartbreak,’ and I was like, ‘That’s just not how I’m feeling right now,’ so then I kind of vented about like the little things life had been kicking me in the butt about, and so that’s how ‘It Is What It Is’ became what it is,” she continued, ultimately making for a must-listen track that is her second-most streamed song to date (after her smash hit, “see you later (ten years)“).

Aside from the release of Big Dumb Heart, Chapter 2, Jenna Raine will be hitting the road sooner than we know it, and we seriously can’t contain our excitement.

“I am definitely planning on going out on the road,” the talented singer-songwriter teased. “I wanna make sure I have like the perfect set… I’m just excited to be on stage and go on the road, because it’s gonna be such a fun show rather than it all being a bunch of ballads and me being like, ‘I hate this,’ so I’m excited. I think it’ll be a blast.”

“I definitely have a lot more to say with music and just, I don’t know, I’m gonna keep releasing music until I feel like there’s a perfect spot for me to go on the road, but definitely if it doesn’t happen this year, 100% early [or] middle [of] next year,” Jenna concluded with a beaming smile.
