Juliana Hale Opens Up About Her Feel-Good Anthem “Dollhouse” (Exclusive)

Emerging pop star Juliana Hale is no stranger to Celeb Secrets. We’ve covered this budding artist in the past, and now Hale is releasing her hard hitting female empowerment anthem titled “Dollhouse.”

Featuring Wande, “Dollhouse” highlights Hale’s signature tone and Wande’s rhythmic abilities. The modernized track, produced by Derek Minor, draws in elements from pop and R&B while still letting Hale and Wande shine.

“It is a women empowerment anthem to me and I hope it makes listeners feel confident and makes them own their power,” she tells Celeb Secrets exclusively. “So often women are objectified, and this song is me saying we aren’t objects, we are our own strong individuals.”

Celeb Secrets sat down with Juliana (virtually) to learn more about the song, what she’s been up to, and what’s to come from her new music. Take a read at the full Q&A below and don’t forget to let us know what you think of “Dollhouse” by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.

You can keep up with Juliana by giving her a follow on Instagram at @julianahale.

CS: Hi Juliana! It’s great to catch up with you! The last time we chatted was when you released “Dangerous.” It’s been a little while since then, but you can fill us in on what you’ve been up to?

JH: “Hi! It is great to catch up with you too! Definitely. Since then, the world has definitely been a crazy place, but I spent that time focusing on making music that I’m really proud of. I started out 2021 releasing a groovy song ‘Chill,’ followed by a quite contrasting song ‘Crazy’ feat Derek Minor. I am also making my acting debut in the movie ‘And You Call Yourself a Christian’ coming out on Amazon on December 24th! Since shows have finally started back up, I was able to open for Snoop Dogg and play Ubbi Dubbi and the Other Fest.”

CS: Congratulations on the release of “Dollhouse!” What can you tell us about this single and what it means to you? What do you hope listeners take away?

JH: “Thank you so much! I wrote the hook for this song almost two years ago, and I have been so excited about it ever since. It is a women empowerment anthem to me and I hope it makes listeners feel confident and makes them own their power. So often women are objectified, and this song is me saying we aren’t objects, we are our own strong individuals.”

CS: You worked with Derek Minor and Wande for this release. What was it like collaborating with them and can we expect more collaborations anytime soon?

JH: “Derek and Wande both really brought this song to life. Derek Minor did a great job producing this song and giving it the feel I wanted, I especially love the bass line. Wande’s verse is amazing and I cannot wait for everyone to hear it. Derek produced a lot more of the songs that I will be coming out with next year.”

CS: If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?

JH: “I would love to write a song with Taylor Swift. I would really love to collaborate with Halsey, Post Malone, or blackbear though.”

CS: “Dollhouse” definitely shows a progression in your sound. Do you notice this progression yourself and what is it like when you listen to your old music, compared to listening to your new songs?

JH: “I definitely do notice and it has been a self-driven evolution for sure. I’ve spent the last year trying a lot of different sounds and really refining what I like. I love the edgy energy of this track and am very happy to be dipping into the hip-hop world. It’s odd to listen back, especially if I go wayyyy back, but I love that music allows me to grow and change.”

CS: Lastly, since we are Celeb Secrets. Can you share a secret talent of yours?

JH: “I love to paint! Especially acrylic pour paint. I also have a Marlon Brando Godfather impression, but it isn’t very good. It’ll make you laugh though.”
