Kate Stewart is back with a new song and we can’t get enough of it!
“The Game,” which is available on streaming platforms beginning today (July 22), is a dreamy R&B pop tune that takes a deep dive into the realm of not getting played by anyone and controlling your own path.
“‘The game is the game’ is just something that me and all my friends have always said. Whenever I try to explain it to people they never understand, you just have to hear it in context to get it!” Stewart says about the song’s backstory.
“However, I thought it would make a really cool title for a song, and in this instance, ‘The Game’ symbolizes not letting anything or anyone get in the way of you or what you’re trying to do. You just have to look forward and enjoy the ride, looking back will only hinder all the progress you’ve made.”
Written by her brother David (who has worked with artists like BTS, The Jonas Brothers and Hailee Steinfeld) along with Jessica Agombar, the track holds a special place in Kate’s heart, as it’s one of her favorites to date. She hopes that after people listen to “The Game,” they realize that life is too short to care about what people think about you.
“We made this track in only a few hours. Whenever I work with David and Jessica, we work super super fast and this one was no exception,” she tells Celeb Secrets exclusively.
The video, which drops on the 25th, flips through Kate against a stark black background and an illuminated background as she poses in powerful stances, with strong visual storytelling. Her outfits range from an oversized blazer to a form fitting bodysuit. The stunning video was directed by Jack Bowden, and is the latest visual entry to the budding singer’s upcoming project.
“The Game” can be heard on Kate’s upcoming EP You Had To Be There, which is dropping later this fall. The collection of songs is a storybook of seasons of love, self love and empowerment, collaborated and put together by Kate and a circle of music titans.
