Lexi Anand is gearing up for the music video release for her new single “Say It” and Celeb Secrets has your first look at the impactful new visual that’s an absolute must-see.
The Nashville-based singer/songwriter, who released the pop ballad earlier this year, tells Celeb Secrets that “Say It” is about “saying ‘I love you’ with an empty heart.”
“There’s a lot of self-awareness in the song, recognizing that the practice of reciting ‘I love you’ is simply not enough to revive and preserve a relationship that has already dissipated,” she reveals.
Detailing that she wrote the chorus melody at home at the piano, Anand reached out to co-writer and producer Leland Grant and built out the rest of the song to what it is today.
“After my co-writer and producer Leland Grant and I had finished the song, I went into the vocal booth to record vocals for the demo. As I was going through the song, I remember feeling so much joy about what we had just written,” Lexi recalls.
Wanting the video to center around the performance of the song, the visual for “Say It” puts its powerful lyrics and eclectic sound on display for the viewer to see its deeper meaning.
Filmed at The Nashville Music Loft, Lexi says she her favorite memory from the shoot was “definitely standing on the stage performing it.”
“It’s kind of a hidden gem, an if you know you know, kind of place. It’s in this big highrise building off Broadway in downtown Nashville. It’s such a cool place, I definitely recommend it for parties, videos or just an airbnb experience,” Lexi says.
“After spending so much time in the creating process, it felt surreal to finally be presenting it to an ‘audience’ (the film crew). It made me excited to start performing the song and connecting it to people in real time,” she continues.

Anand has always had a passion for singing and songwriting. When she was just six years old, she wrote her first song entitled, “When I Wake Up.” “When I Wake Up was a song about waking up in different locations, like on the sun or on the moon,” says Lexi.

In 2019, Lexi was selected to attend Grammy Camp by The Recording Academy. There she studied under notable writers such as Echosmith, Andy Grammer and Jordin Sparks. She is a rising junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where she is focusing on studying music business while honing in on her artistry and songwriting crafts.
After spending her last semester interning at The Seacrest Foundation in Nashville, TN, an organization known for the important work it does inspiring pediatric patients through entertainment- and education- focused initiatives, Lexi made a live appearance on the show. She performed her original music and was interviewed about her work and artist career. And recently, Lexi had the honor of recording three songs at Brandy Melville’s studio in Los Angeles, CA. With over 3.1 million followers on Instagram, Brandy Melville US is not only a well-known clothing brand but they also support aspiring singer/songwriters, giving them an opportunity to record music and shine a spotlight on them via their social media platforms.
As for what’s next, Lexi will head to Los Angeles to write and record new material that will be released later this year.
“I am releasing more new music! I will be spending the rest of the summer in Los Angeles continuing to work on new songs and preparing for new releases. I am very excited to finally share what I have been working on,” she shares.
