Maggie Szabo Releases Uplifting Pride Month Anthem “Rebuild” (LISTEN)

Pride Month is all about standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities. It’s hard to lose sight of the underlining meaning of Pride Month when empowering leaders within the entertainment industry to utilize their platform to share inspiring stories about courageous individuals accepting their true authentic selves 🏳️‍🌈

Along with Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Madonna, and Demi LovatoMaggie Szabo is an LGBTQ+ ally who uses her voice to deliver chilling stories of her fans and to spark difficult, yet necessary dialogues. Throughout the years, Szabo has become a trailblazer within the industry who uses her voice to demand change and fight for what’s right. She has donated her time and efforts to support the LGBTQ+ youth, work with the Trans Chorus of LA, and performed at multiple pride events throughout California.

Now, the rising musician is using the power of music to bring everyone together and celebrate love and inner strength in her recently released single “Rebuild.” To bring the tear-jerking storyline up a notch, she uses old-fashioned photographs of her dear friend Dr. Kathryn Davis to pay tribute to the internal battle many transgenders face while transitioning or accepting themselves for who they are.

“Kathryn and I met through our work with the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. After realizing we are both Canadians, we became fast friends,” says the rising star on YouTube. “As time went on, I had the privilege of really getting to know her and her life story was profoundly inspiring.”

Szabo’s music video for “Rebuild” was directed by Alexa Best and stars Dr. Kathryn Davis who also identifies as a transgender woman. The short-film-like music video follows the life of Kathryn and documents the struggles of losing her job and being forced to detransition in the 90s to continue to feed her family. However, it was an almost fatal incident that became her “wake-up” call to become the person she always wanted to be.

“One of my goals has always been to use music as a way of spreading awareness for topics that are important to me and that I feel need more attention,” Szabo tells Celeb Secrets. “The trans community deserves more visibility, and I can’t imagine a more inspiring story than Kathryn’s. Kathryn teaches us all that it’s never too late to live as your true, authentic self. Even if one person watches this video and feels inspired to do that, it’s all worth it.

The brave soul officially transitioned in 2016 at the age of 70 and is now living her true authentic self. “There is so much more to her journey that I would love to share, and it  was a (welcomed) challenge to compile it into such a short video,” says Szabo.

The mighty vocalist hopes her loyal fan base will recognize the hardships that some members of the LGBTQ+ community have to face but learn from their strength. “My deepest hope about what you’ll take away from Kathryn’s story is her resilience, her generosity, and her bravery,” she adds.

Dropping a Pride Month anthem is not out of the ordinary for the blonde powerhouse, as she quickly put her name on the map for her fan-favorite ballad “Don’t Give Up” back in 2017.  The midtempo track serves as a love letter to transgender youth.

“So many trans youth feel alone because there isn’t anyone standing with them,” Szabo told Billboard. “I hope to be one of the many more people in this world that lets them know they are loved.”

Following the release of “Don’t Give Up,” Maggie performed the track alongside The Trans Chorus of LA. The three-minute-long clip quickly went viral and touched hearts across the globe. To this day, Maggie remains active within the organization and her recent collaboration with Dr. Kathryn Davis proves that the power of music creates unbreakable bonds that will last a lifetime.
