Mariah Carey is headed to the BBMAs stage this weekend!
Earlier today (November 15), dick clark productions and Billboard revealed that the Queen of Christmas will perform “All I Want For Christmas Is You” at the 2023 Billboard Music Awardson Sunday (November 19). According to a press release, Mimi will take the stage for a festive Aspen-inspired performance of her holiday classic, marking the first time in history the iconic song has ever been performed on an awards show.
In addition to performing, Carey will be honored with the Billboard Chart Achievement Award for the chart-topping holiday classic. Creative directed by the legendary Debbie Allen, Carey’s performance is part of a star-filled lineup of previously announced BBMA performers including David Guetta and Bebe Rexha, KAROL G, NewJeans, Peso Pluma, Stray Kids, and Morgan Wallen.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which was first released in 1994, repeatedly climbs to Number 1 on the the Hot 100 since 2019, and as of November 2023, has spent 12 total weeks at No. 1. It’s only the second holiday song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100, after “The Chipmunk Song” in 1958. The track also became Mariah’s 19th Hot 100 No. 1 in 2019, extending her record for the most No. 1s of any solo artist.
Aside from preparing for her BBMAs performance, Mariah is currently on her Merry Christmas One and All! tour and will wrap on December 17 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
