Disney Channel just ordered a new TV series, Ultra Violet & Blue Demon, starring legendary luchador and professional wrestler, Blue Demon Jr. as Blue Demon and Bunk’d star, Scarlett Estevez as Ultra Violet!
The new live-action superhero comedy will follow a relatable Mexican American family with a very special legacy. Disney Branded Television, Development, and Vice President, Rafael Garcia stated, “[We] have the opportunity to present an authentic Mexican American family in a series that combines humor and adventure in a unique Latinx shake-up of the superhero game.”
Along with a Latinx leading cast, the show also has a predominately Latinx producing team behind the camera! Blue Demon Jr. is a co-executive producer alongside Jorge Garcia Castro and Moxie 88’s Dan Carrillo Levy and Eungenio Villamar.
The pilot episode, in which Violet (Estevez) discovers a magical luchador mask that turns her into Ultra, was written and executive produced by Dan Hernandez and One Day at a Time and Pokémon Detective Pikachu writer Benji Samit and directed by Alejandro Damiani.
There is currently no set date of release for the series, but we cannot wait for it to come!
