Orville Peck Reimagines “Born This Way” for 10th Anniversary

In February 2011, Lady Gaga released the definitive queer anthem of the decade; from the Grammys to the Superbowl to the halls of William McKinley High School, “Born This Way” spread Gaga’s message of radical acceptance around the world.

Ten years later, Gaga is putting together a re-issue of her iconic 2011 album of the same name, featuring six covers by LGBTQ artists.

“I am so honoured and excited to be a part of the iconic legacy of this song and album. Thank you @ladygaga for askin me and Happy Pride y’all !!” he wrote.

The cover is notable for updating the lyrics “No matter black, white or beige / Chola or orient made” to the more 2021 line:  “No matter black, white, or beige / Asian or Latinx made.”

The complete album, Born This Way the Tenth Anniversary, will be released on June 18th.

What do you think of Orville’s country take on the song? Are you excited for the re-issue? Let us know by leaving a reaction down below and send us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
