Remy Garrison might look and sing like an angel, but her new music proves she’s not afraid to bare her teeth.
The Birmingham, Alabama native has been serving up cheeky pop-country bops since her teens, but with the release of “Sweet ’N Low” earlier this summer and her latest single “Bite Back” (which dropped on Friday, August 22), Remy is stepping into what she calls her “no more Mrs. Nice Girl” era — and she’s having way too much fun doing it.
The “Sweet ’N Low” era all started with an energy drink. Seriously. “I was sipping a Celsius in a different writers room and the artificial sweeteners hit me just so,” Remy laughs. “I thought, ‘looks like sugar, tastes like betrayal… kind of like my ex.’ One minute he was Prince Charming and then suddenly transformed into red flag central… and the idea for the song was born.”
That “aha” moment became “Sweet ’N Low” — a sugary-sassy anthem about a relationship gone sour. But if you ask Remy, the real heartbreak wasn’t the guy. “Honestly, the Diet Coke betrayal cut real deep,” she teases. “At least with my ex, I saw it coming. But Diet Coke? I thought we had something special.”
Fans couldn’t get enough of her quotable hooks, especially the line “looks like sugar, tastes like betrayal.” But Remy admits it didn’t come right away. “We had the general song idea and a few lines written down but when we came up with ‘sugar why’d you get so bitter on me,’ it felt like it was perfect for the hook,” she explains. “Artificial sweeteners always turn bitter in the end… and so did my ex.”
That playful but honest balance is exactly what makes Remy’s music feel so fresh. “I’m typically the girl laughing with friends over margaritas,” she says. “But I’ve kind of learned lately that people are more aware of how they’re treating you than they let on, and sometimes you’ve just got to hand it to them in hopes they learn to be a little nicer to the next one in line.”

If “Sweet ’N Low” was the calm clapback, “Bite Back” is Remy’s full-on fiery return — and trust us, this one bites harder than it sweetens.
“It’s feisty!” she says with a grin. “It’s less of a ‘slash your tires’ kind of revenge and more of a ‘look what you made me do’ kind of vibe. There’s a lot of sass in it that gives it a hint of playfulness, like the line ‘I’ve got five fingers, guess which one’s for you.’”
Compared to her last single, Remy says this track packs a little more punch. “‘Sweet ’N Low’ delivers some sass while you’re walking him out the door calmly,” she explains. “‘Bite Back’ is the moment when the sugar rush wears off and you remember your worth. It’s got more bite than sweet for sure.”
That attitude came from more than just one bad relationship — it was a slow burn of fed-up energy. “There wasn’t one single ‘aha’ moment that inspired it,” she says. “It was more of a slow build to just being fed up and realizing ‘enough is enough.’ At that point, you’re not even sad anymore, you’re just spicy.”
And spicy is the perfect word. If “Sweet ’N Low” was about waving red flags you’ve ignored, “Bite Back” is all about waving your own. “Exactly,” Remy nods. “‘Sweet ’N Low’ was me waving the red flags I had previously ignored. ‘Bite Back’ is me waving my own flag, like thanks for playing, but I win now.”
Sonically, the track leans edgier too. “It’s definitely edgier than ‘Sweet ’N Low,’” she reveals. “It’s got this cool, slinky vibe when you listen to it—it’s still playful, but sharper and a little more dangerous. You could say it has a little more bite.”
And if you’re wondering what it tastes like? “Oh, ‘Bite Back’ is a spicy margarita with tajín on the rim,” she grins. “Sweet at first sip, but it’ll hit you with that kick real quick—you better sip it correctly or you’re in trouble.”

For Remy, this isn’t just a new single — it’s the beginning of a whole new side of her artistry.
“Bite Back is the beginning of my ‘no more Mrs. Nice Girl’ chapter,” she shares. “It’s still playful, still witty, but with a little more toughness in every lyric. You can tell that I’ve experienced a little more life and have traded in a bit of my naivety.”
That shift comes through in the way she envisions fans connecting with the song. “I picture fans blasting ‘Bite Back’when they’re strutting into a room they know they own, or maybe when they’re hyping themselves up in the mirror before sending that ‘actually, I’m good without you’ text,” she says. “It’s for those moments when you feel untouchable and a little dangerous in the best way.”
If Remy’s schedule wasn’t already full with new music, she’s also been busy making moves in Hollywood. She just wrapped filming a feature in Vancouver — though she admits it came with its challenges. “Balancing music and acting meant a lot of late nights and coffee runs, but it taught me I can survive on four hours of sleep and still hit my marks!”
For her, acting and songwriting aren’t as different as people think. “Definitely,” she says. “Writing songs is basically method acting with melodies. You’re stepping into a character, telling a story and selling the emotion. Acting just takes away the guitar.”
And if you think all this bite means she’s abandoned her sweet side, think again. Between laughs, she confesses a little Celeb Secret of her own: “My dad has a local band in Alabama that goes out and plays shows — so I guess you could say music runs in the family!”
With her undeniable wit, sugary-yet-spicy vocals, and a fresh edge that feels perfectly timed, Remy Garrison is carving out her lane as one of pop-country’s most exciting new voices. “Bite Back” is just the beginning — and trust us, this girl isn’t afraid to bare her teeth.
