Riley Green Brings Southern Heat to NYC With Sold-Out “Damn Country Music Tour” Show at The Rooftop at Pier 17 (Review)

It was a damn good night in New York City when Riley Green’s Damn Country Music Tour rolled into The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Thursday (July 24) — and the skyline wasn’t the only thing glowing. With a completely sold-out crowd packed into the city’s most scenic rooftop venue, Green brought the grit, the charm, and a setlist packed with singalongs for a summer night that was equal parts heart, heat, and honky tonk.

Opening the night were country risers Wyatt McCubbin and Vincent Mason, each making the most of their moment with buzzworthy tracks that had fans arriving early and staying loud. Then came Ella Langley, and let’s just say: if you didn’t already know her name, you sure do now. The Alabama-born powerhouse delivered a headliner-level set that oozed cool confidence and genre-bending edge, blending gritty rock energy with country storytelling.

Tracks like “Nicotine,” “Girl You’re Taking Home,” and her fiery cover of “Here for the Party” that Gretchen Wilson would be proud of showcased Langley’s bold stage presence and unapologetic sass. With flirty bravado, powerhouse vocals, and undeniable charisma, she had the NYC crowd wrapped around her finger — the perfect hype for the cowboy they came to see. She’s a star in the making, and country music better buckle up for what’s to come from the 26-year-old.

When Riley Green stepped on stage to the opening chords of “Damn Country Music,” the crowd erupted — and for the next 90 minutes, the Alabama native gave us a masterclass in modern country showmanship. From beer-raising anthems to tear-jerking tributes, Green proved he’s not just a singer — he’s a storyteller, a heartthrob, and a damn good time all rolled into one.

There’s something magnetic about Riley Green. Maybe it’s the twinkle in his eye, toned physique, the lived-in lyrics, or the way he makes even a city crowd feel like they’re sitting on a tailgate somewhere down South. One thing’s for sure: he’s never looked or sounded more in his element. He’s the hot cowboy with a heart of gold — and a setlist made for summer nights.

Green’s set spanned fan favorites, new hits, and a few surprises. Tracks like “Different ‘Round Here,” “If It Wasn’t for Trucks,” and “Georgia Time” struck a chord with the crowd, while covers like Thomas Rhett’s “Half of Me” and Jamey Johnson’s “In Color” felt like a nod to the greats who shaped him.

Midway through the set, Ella Langley returned for a fiery duet of Don’t Mind If I Do” and “You Look Like You Love Me,” proving the duo’s chemistry is just as electric live as it is on the track.

But it was the encore that really sent hearts soaring: “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” brought a sentimental hush over the crowd, before “Dixieland Delight” turned Pier 17 into a southern stadium singalong with Langley, Mason, and McCubbin back by his side.

Now on his biggest tour to date, Green’s Damn Country Music Tour is crisscrossing the U.S., Canada, and the UK through November — with more festival dates and a major Vegas stop in December. He’s even giving back in a big way: $5 from every ticket sold for his Duckman Jam show in Little Rock, AR on November 22nd goes to Ducks Unlimited, supporting wetland conservation across North America.

This tour is a must-see for any country fan as it makes you fall a little more in love with both the 36-year-old and the genre that is country music. And if the NYC stop proved anything, it’s this: Riley Green is at the top of his game — and he’s only getting better.
