Inspired by a night straight out of a rom-com gone rogue, the song’s origin story is as iconic as its hook. “‘All Hat, No Cowboy’ came from one of those nights that felt totally scripted,” Shaylen exclusively tells Celeb Secrets. “I was talking to a guy — completely unaware he was also dating another girl — and instead of turning on each other, we met up, swapped the receipts, laughed, and grabbed drinks at Red Door… where he also showed up to shortly after. We were sitting right by the entrance, and his face genuinely looked like he’d just seen two blonde ghosts in Levi’s.”
That hilarious, only-in-Nashville moment led to one of Shaylen’s most fearless songs yet about a clever takedown of a man who talks the talk but couldn’t saddle up if he tried. “Some people wear the costume really well, but there’s no cowboy underneath,” Shaylen adds. “This song is a page straight out of my journal — proof that sometimes the best plot twists end up becoming the best songs… and a bonus when you walk away with a new friend and a good laugh in the process.”
