Shelley Hennig and Shiloh Fernandez Share Challenges They Faced While Playing Complex Characters in New Indie Film “FLUXX” (Exclusive)

Shelley Hennig and Shiloh Fernandez are teaming up for a new indie film that’s bound to take you on a whirlwind.

The actors costar in a psychological thriller called FLUXX, which can be best described as a roller coaster ride of human emotions that explores the dark side of the Hollywood Dream. Although the film is blanketed under a psychological thriller, it crosses genres, making the story unique due to its non-linear narrative and timeless subject matter… the movies.

“I haven’t seen the movie, so I’m super nervous,” Shiloh reveals to Celeb Secrets in an exclusive interview. “I’m really excited for the director. He seems happy with it, so that’s great. It’s gonna be tough for me, but the fact that he feels good is a positive sign.”

Directed by Brendan Michael Murray, Hennig stars as a Hollywood actress who is determined to save her famous missing husband (played by Fernandez), despite the fact that she cannot willingly leave her Malibu home. Calling the flick a “visual feast,” the challenge to play such complex characters was intriguing to the talented actors, in addition to wanting to work together on a project for a very long time.

“I’m still piecing the movie together in my brain… it’s not every day that as actors, we get asked to do so much in one project, and for that I was pumped, excited and open [to taking on this role],” Shelley shares. “[‘FLUXX’] has been really challenging, but really important to me in my career. It prepped me for my next job, which was a series that also asked a lot of me, and there’s a world where that maybe wouldn’t have gone as smoothly had I not done FLUXX.”

“Our director is a really unique person with this sort of incredible vision, so it’s really sort of his vision and I think for everybody else, we sort of had to trust the process. It’s a really trippy movie, and [Shelley’s] character goes through a lot of different things. I’ve known [Brendan] for like half my life, so I sort of felt a little bit more comfortable going in and understanding sort of what what my job would be as an actor,” Shiloh adds. “I think it’s a really fascinating movie, and I hear it’s sort of a visual feast, so I think the look of the movie’s supposed to be incredible. It sounds like it’s gonna be a mind sort of genre bending film, so I’m excited to see what happens at the premiere.”

The film was one of many who premiered on the big screen at the Mammoth Film Festival in Mammoth Lakes, California, which took place at the Minaret Cinemas from February 29 to March 4. With a full-on blizzard and 195mph winds sweeping the Sierra Nevada Mountains, out-of-this-world conditions didn’t stop Shelley, Shiloh and the rest of the cast and crew from celebrating their special moment.

“It’s my first blizzard and this Louisiana girl is really tripping out about it,” Shelley shares.

Shiloh, who was in attendance last year and also stuck in the blizzard, says that the entire experience was absolutely amazing, and he truly enjoys being stuck in the mountains — as long as he can get out. “The festival is great. Tanner and Tomik have done an incredible job building this thing,” he adds.

FLUXX also stars Tyrese Gibson as entertainment talk show host Calvin Campbell, alongside the likes of Lost star Henry Ian Cusick, Charlotte McKinney, Michael Aaron Milligan and Jeff Perkins. The film was produced by Silver Sail Entertainment, which is run by Mammoth Film Festival founder Tanner Beard.

“This project will be something so new for audiences, these actors go places you’ve never seen them go, the cinematography is a cut above and Brendan Gabriel Murphy has a style that’s going to change the game,” the actor, producer and CEO told Digital Spy.  “I’m immensely proud of the work done here by our cast, crew and fellow producers. Can’t wait for everyone to experience the neon magic.”
