Swifties, are you “…Ready For It?” Because Taylor Swift just announced she is releasing a brand-new song for the movie Where the Crawdads Sing.
Swift hasn’t posted on her Instagram since December, but today (March 22), the singer broke her silence to announce the soon-to-be-released song.
Swift told fans that she has been a huge fan of the book Where the Crawdads Sing, which has now been adapted to a movie. Swift explains to fans in the post that she knew she needed to be a part of the project in some way.

The new song titled “Carolina” was produced by Swift’s friend, Aaron Dessner. Swift described the new song on Instagram by saying, “I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story.”
Where the Crawdads Sing is being produced by fellow star, Reese Witherspoon. The film and trailer center around the main character, Kya, a girl whose parents abandoned her at a young age. Kya has had to fend for herself and can be seen as the town’s outcast.
In the tailer, Kya finds herself at the center of a love triangle as two boys become intrigued by her character. Suddenly, a mysterious murder occurs in town and everyone easily suspects Kya.
In the clip, you can hear a snippet of Swift’s song playing in the background. The eerie tone of the song fits with the theme of the upcoming movie, which asset to be released this July.
Swift has yet to announce an official release date for the accompanying song “Carolina”.
