On Sunday (February 18), Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the 2018 BAFTAs for the second year in a row.
All eyes were on Kate, who is seven months pregnant, as fans of the royals were eager to see what she would wear.
This year, the theme of the evening was black to honor the Time’s Up initiative which stands up against harassment, assault and mistreatment of women, so when The Duchess of Cambridge arrived in an olive green dress, people in attendance and on social media had mixed reactions.
Twitter users took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the situation, saying that they were “disappointed” in her outfit choice.
Disappointed in #KateMiddleton #DuchessofCambridge not wearing black to the #EEBAFTAs It’s not a political thing. Its a woman thing! #TimesUp #StandTogether

The Royal Family tends to stay away from any political movement happening around the world — they don’t even vote — so we can see why she chose to wear a different color to the awards ceremony. One Twitter user came to Middleton’s defense, saying that she can’t show support towards a political affiliation or bias as a member of the royal family.
People hurling abuse at Kate Middleton for not wearing black to the #BAFTAs need to remember that as a member of the Royal family, she can’t show support towards a political affiliation or bias.

While we would have LOVED to see Middleton support her fellow females in black, we feel that the green did blend in well with everyone’s outfits.
