The 2017 People’s Choice Awards will air this Wednesday, January 18 @ 9PM ET/PT on CBS.
FAVORITE MALE ARTIST: Blake Shelton, Drake, Justin Timberlake, Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd.
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: This is a tough one seeing they are all great artists. Since the fans will be the voters, it’s only safe to go by music rankings. Drake seems to have had the most success in the top100 in 2016 as well as remaining on that list throughout the year with numerous singles.
FAVORITE FEMALE ARTIST: Adele, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rihanna
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: This one has to go to Ariana Grande! Anything is possible, however looking at the charts again, it has been an amazing year for Ariana, who has gone a little more urban and experimental with her sound. This switch has been extremely well received by the public and ‘Dangerous Woman’ was an overall success. Additionally, the pop diva has landed roles in TV and Musical Theater, making her a great all-rounder and likely to be this year’s winner.
FAVORITE GROUP: The Chainsmokers, Coldplay, Fifth Harmony, Panic! at the Disco, Twenty One Pilots
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: There is no doubt that The Chainsmokers are going to walk out with another award this year! They have pretty much won it all, especially in the ‘new artists’categories. Having played in almost every club in the world and being covered by every artist on YouTube, we have very very high hopes and are confident they will win this category!
FAVORITE BREAKOUT ARTIST: Alessia Cara, The Chainsmokers, DNCE, Niall Horan, Zayn
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: As great as it would be to give everyone a fair chance, we believe The Chainsmokers have a high chance of winning this category as well! YES! Don’t you remember falling in love with their new song ‘Roses’ back in 2015/16 not really knowing their names or who they were, and now, they have become top40 regulars and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon!
FAVORITE MALE COUNTRY ARTIST: Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Tim McGraw
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: We think that 2017 is the year for Sam Hunt! After a successful debut album Montevallo, Hunt captured the hearts of many with his catchy country tunes. Fans have been going crazy for his new music that was released recently, which gives us confidence that Hunt’s fans have been voting for him to win this category.
FAVORITE FEMALE COUNTRY ARTIST: Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Carrie Underwood has this one in the bag! The country songstress has some competition in this category this year, however, she always comes out on top when it comes to awards. She also has a very strong fanbase that always comes out and supports her with no matter what.
FAVORITE COUNTRY GROUP: The Band Perry, Florida Georgia Line, Little Big Town, Lonestar, Zac Brown Band
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: We’re hoping this one goes to Florida Georgia Line this year after an upset at the 50th Annual CMA Awards in November. The bro-country duo had the best selling tour in 2016, which led to multiple dates in 2017. If the fans are that dedicated enough to buy FGL’s concert tickets, they will vote for them to become this year’s Favorite Country Group.
FAVORITE POP ARTIST: Adele, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Sia
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Sia’s beautiful and personal songwriting resonates with many, and she has created a subtle and yet, incredible persona behind her music everybody has adored since her first single. Her beautiful / catchy melodies have been club, cars and overall playlist favorites. Her exceptional artistic qualities as a vocalist but also, songwriter, must win her the favorite pop artist category this year. But again, anything is possible!
FAVORITE HIP-HOP ARTIST: DJ Khaled, G-Eazy, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa
WHO WE THNK WILL WIN: Our prediction is… G-Eazy! His collaboration ‘Me, Myself and I’ with Bebe Rexha jumped straight to the pop charts at the time of its release. It was each, their first time featured in the top10, and even got to number one in April this last year. Making his debut in the Pop Charts, Easy was acclaimed my the public, and who knows, he might even win this award!
FAVORITE R&B ARTIST: Beyoncé, Drake, Rihanna, Usher, The Weeknd
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: The predictions is Drake might win this one as well. He has absolutely been killing it this year and the thought of him winning multiple awards isn’t crazy. He has been the highest ranked artist out of all the nominees from this category.
FAVORITE ALBUM: Anti / Rihanna, Dangerous Woman / Ariana Grande, If I’m Honest / Blake Shelton, Lemonade / Beyoncé, Views / Drake
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: Drake seems to have been on a winning streak this year. He debuted with 2016 with a bang, topping sales with songs like ‘One Dance’playing incessantly on the radio, followed by ‘Hotline Bling’ and ‘Too Good.’ He seems to be a good candidate to bring home this award, having been consistently on the top40 charts list since the beginning of 2016.
FAVORITE SONG: “Can’t Stop the Feeling” / Justin Timberlake, “No” / Meghan Trainor, “One Dance” / Drake feat. Kyla and Wizkid, “Pillowtalk” Zayn, “Work” / Rihanna feat. Drake
WHO WE THINK WILL WIN: The anticipated single everyone has been talking about before and even, way after it’s release must make the former ‘One Direction’ member a winner for favorite song! ‘Pillowtalk’ is sonically different to what we have heard on the charts this year, and made Zayn the first UK male artist to debut as number one in the UK AND in the US!
