10 TV Female Friendships that Truly Are Galentine’s Day Goals

Let’s forget about Valentine’s Day for a moment and celebrate the gals in our life with Galentine’s Day, February 13th.

Galentine’s Day first became a thing in NBC’s comedy series, Parks and Recreation where the main character, Leslie Knope, came up with the holiday so she could spend a day celebrating all the great and amazing females she had in her life–with a side of waffles of course.

So in order to start celebrating Galentine’s Day, we wanted to compile a list of some of our favorite female duos and groups on television.

Leslie Knope, Ann Perkins, April Ludgate, and Donna Meagle – Parks & Recreation

You can’t have a gal pals list and not include the group that started Galentine’s Day. From redesigning water fountains to planning bachelorette parties to running a political campaign, there’s nothing these Parks & Rec ladies can’t do together. They kind of make us want to go to Indiana. Kinda.

Rory Gilmore and Lane Kim – Gilmore Girls

Like all childhood best friends, Rory and Lane really know the ins and outs of each other. Not to mention the fact that one is always bound to be adopted into the other’s family, as we see with Lane and Rory’s mom. The two always push each other to try new things and no matter where life takes them, they still make time to spend together.

Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang – Grey’s Anatomy

This pair is probably the most unique set of best friends. Meredith and Cristina love challenging each other and let each other get dark and twisted but are always ready to pull the other out if need be. They completely accept each other for who they are and hey, maybe they drink a little too much, but at least they do it together.

Monica Geller, Rachel Green, and Phoebe Buffay – Friends

Though the girls have many laughs together and even a few fights, they would drop whatever they are doing if one of them called and needed help with something. They help each other find jobs and build quirky dollhouses out of cardboard and even hustle money out of the three guys. They make us want to reserve a spot on the couch in Central Perk.

Jane Villanueva and Petra Solano – Jane the Virgin

Okay so maybe when you think of “best friends” this duo isn’t the first that comes to mind. They’re really more like frenemies. But doesn’t everyone have someone who tests their patience and competes with them for everything? Sometimes a friendship like this adds balance to life.

Jessica Day and Cece – New Girl

Jess and Cece are another pair of childhood best friends. Not perfect by any means, especially when they get into fights and are both too stubborn to apologize to the other, but never the less, they’re there for each other. These two really compliment each other the way best friends tend to do, being your strength in areas where you lack it.

JJ, Emily Prentiss, and Penelope Garcia – Criminal Minds

Even though we rarely see this trio out and about together because of their crazy busy BAU schedules, the times we have seen them hang out, they prove that they’re not a force to be reckoned with. All three of them are strong and intelligent in their own ways and are pretty much willing to die for each other. They’re not only friends but family after all.

Jane Sloan, Kat Edison, and Sutton Brady – The Bold Type

Give these girls a fashion closet and some alcohol and they’re ready for a girl talk. The trio is always ready to push each other to pursue their dreams and to catch them if someone falls short. They’re honest and loving, never letting each other forget that they’ll always have someone rooting for them in their corner.

Khadijah, Synclaire, Régine, and Max – Living Single

Living in a brownstone in Brooklyn together, well almost all of them, these ladies truly watched each other go through everything. With each of them having successful careers, they inspired one another and thrived for the best.

Fiona and V – Shameless

These two always have each other’s backs no matter what. Like many friends, they have their fights but they will always their way back to each other. Fiona and V live their own lives and go through things the other may not understand but they’re honest and genuine with each other and that’s what made their friendship last.

No matter how you decide to spend Galentine’s Day, don’t forget to celebrate your closest friends and thank them for having you in their lives. Our friends are like our chosen family, we have to keep them close and safe.
