From beginning to end, Nickelodeon‘s 2017 Kids Choice Awards (KCAs) was a blast to watch. Not only did audience members and Nickelodeon stars alike appear to have had the time of their lives, but a great deal of slime didn’t hurt either.
In case you missed this years’ show, Celeb Secrets has you covered.
This year’s show was a success to say the least beginning with Jace Norman, who easily wins an orange blimp in our eyes for the coolest entrance of all time. Seconds before passing the mic over to show host John Cena, Norman had just wrapped things up on a dramatic episode of Henry Danger. The star quickly realized that it was time to for him to head to the KCAs. Likewise, he made his way there by way of a magical tube that placed him on the orange carpet in the nick of time.
It was great to see Cena let loose and show off his fun side. The famed wrestler slid down an orange slide, arm wrestled Nickelodeon stars in jello, and he even used an audience member as a substitute for weights. However, the best of it was a dance battle between Cena and Nick Cannon‘s crews. Although Cannon put in a good fight, the show’s host naturally came out on top. Fortunately for viewers, the fun didn’t stop there!
Although Cena hosted the show, Chris Pratt was “in charge” of it all. The Guardians of the Galaxy star made an appearance to show just how much control he has behind the scenes, but he managed to get slimed in the process. Likewise, all of his efforts were put to work to introduce his fellow costar, Zoe Saldana, who showed viewers an exclusive preview of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Viewers had the chance to see numerous never before seen clips from upcoming films, including the much-anticipated Wonder Woman film and Transformers: The Last Knight. Demi Lovato introduced a never before seen clip from the upcoming Smurfs: Lost Village all while Madisyn Shipman from Game Shakers got smurfified. As Shipman picked her name as slime inspired Smurf name, Lovato was surprisingly attacked with a large amount of green slime.
Camila Cabello and Machine Gun Kelly performed “Bad Things”, marking her first live television performance after leaving Fifth Harmony late last year. Although it might’ve been awkward seeing Cabello perform onstage, her former band mates had their moment to shine last night too. Fifth Harmony walked away with two orange blimps for “Favorite Group” and “Favorite Song.” Little Mix helped to round odd the evenings performances on their night off from Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman Tour.” The fun and fabulous girl group performed their latest singles “Touch” and “Shout Out to My Ex”.
As for the speeches, Fuller House’s  Candace Cameron Bure–aka DJ Tanner–gave a speech that made us oldies reflect upon watching Full House as kids. Although Kevin Hart gave a fun acceptance speech that included a top-notch hand shake with his son, Ellen DeGeneres‘ powerful and heartwarming speech stole the show. As she accepted her three blimps (i.e. “Favorite Animated Movie”, “Favorite Voice From an Animated Movie”, and “#Squad”), she had the audience raise their hands and repeat the following: “I am good enough just as I am.I am supposed to be unique and different. I’m not supposed to be like everyone else. I promise to be kind to people. I promise to brush my teeth every day and floss.”
It was great seeing former Nickelodeon sweetheart Miranda Cosgrove grace the screen last night, who felt “right at home” at the show as she awarded the cast of Henry Danger. As the cast of Henry Danger went up to claim their award for “Favorite TV Show – Kids’ Show”, they jokingly said that the award was actually for Moonlight. The joke may have fell flat with most kids, but slightly older viewers caught on because they were well aware of the horrific Oscars fiasco that happened a couple of weeks prior.
If you didn’t get the chance to embrace your inner child last night because you failed to watch the 2017 KCAs, then you’re probably experiencing major fomo at this time–we don’t blame you if you are.
