Inside Disney’s “Freakier Friday” Digital Release Party: A Full-Blown DCOM Fever Dream We Never Wanted to Leave

If you grew up quoting Freaky Friday every time life got even slightly chaotic, Disney’s Freakier Friday digital release celebration in Los Angeles on November 5 was basically the adult, real-life DCOM dream you’ve been manifesting since 2003.

Hosted at Break Room 86 — the actual filming location for Anna’s bachelorette party in the new movie — the entire night felt like we’d stepped straight through the screen and into the Freakier universe. And yes, Celeb Secrets was onsite capturing every nostalgic, neon-lit, Pink Slip–powered moment.

The second we walked through the doors, the vibe was instant: “Whoa. We’re in the movie.” Film props lined the entrance, pink-themed signage set the tone, and the beloved Pink Slip merch wall practically begged you to relive your chaotic teenage rock-band fantasies. It was immersive in a way that only Disney knows how to do — that perfect blend of camp, cool, and comfort that hits straight in the childhood core memories.

From there, the night literally leveled up as we headed upstairs to explore three fully decked-out rooms based on moments from the film: the Pink Slip Karaoke Room, the Tarot Room and the Custom Merch Room.

The Pink Slip Karaoke Room was every DCOM kid’s dream. It was a full karaoke lounge covered in band tees, stickers, vinyls, and fan-coded details meant we got to scream-sing like we were actually auditioning to join Pink Slip.

Just like the mystical moment that kicks off the drama in Freakier Friday — minus the accidental body swap (thankfully) — pairs sat down to get their cards read in the Tarot Room. “We sat in our pairs as we got our cards read, and can we just say it was scary accurate,” our team recalls. No lightning strikes… but the vibes were wild.

If you’ve ever wanted your own personalized Pink Slip gear, your dreams were granted in the Custom Merch Room. Guests got to choose between customizing hats or shirts with their color, font, and special saying of choice. It was basically a DIY band-merch haven, and no one left empty-handed.

On top of that, the cast was fully in the mix. Manny Jacinto, Sophia Hammons, and Haley Hudson — along with director Nisha Ganatra — floated through rooms, enjoyed the activations with guests, and chatted about the film’s impact in a way that felt refreshingly real and heartfelt. The entire night was casual, celebratory, and filled with little moments that reminded us why Freaky Friday has remained such a generational touchstone.

And of course, no modern-day bachelorette-coded party would be complete without Insta-worthy photo ops. From the iconic Pink Slip drum set to neon signs and nostalgic set pieces, cameras were out the entire night. The dessert table was the final (and most necessary) stop of the evening, as it was the perfect refuel after hours of karaoke, dancing, and seeing just how freaky our tarot fortunes wanted to get.

We left the celebration with full hearts, personalized merch, and a renewed obsession with one of Disney’s most iconic mother-daughter franchises. And with Freakier Friday now available on digital and hitting Disney+ on November 12, fans everywhere can relive the magic… maybe without the body-swapping chaos this time.
