Bozoma Saint John isn’t just raising a daughter… she’s raising a powerhouse.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and marketing icon is officially in her proud mom era after gifting her 16-year-old daughter Lael a $110,200 Maserati Grecale Trofeo following her driver’s test, and its a jaw-dropping moment that instantly became one of the most talked-about scenes of Thursday night’s episode (February 5).
But according to Boz, the luxury car wasn’t about extravagance. It was about intention, discipline, growth, and celebrating a milestone in a way only their family could.
In her first-ever exclusive interview about the moment, Bozoma tells Celeb Secrets the full story behind the surprise — and trust us, Bravo fans, this one hits straight in the feels.
Getting gifted a six-figure car wasn’t as easy as one would think. Lael really had to earn her dream car… PowerPoint-style.
Boz revealed that since Lael was just three years old, the two have followed a unique birthday tradition centered around experiences, not excess.
“I decided when Lael was three not to give her birthday presents or throw birthday parties because I saw very quickly that the excess of gifts that she received from me, her aunts, and various family members were forgotten shortly after she received them — there was nothing to remember,” Bozoma exclusively tells Celeb Secrets. “So, when she was three, I decided to have her pitch for birthday trips that we could take together every year, anywhere in the world. And on special milestone birthdays, she could pitch for presents.”
Yes, you read that right… pitch decks. Formal presentations. Slide by slide. And no softballs from Mom.
“She’s come to be very practiced in being able to defend her position, even when I don’t take it easy on her!” Boz laughs. “She gets better and better every year.”
For her birthday, Lael came prepared with not one, but two proposals: a dream trip and her dream car.
Her travel pitch? Australia. And Boz delivered.
“When Lael turned 16, she pitched Australia for her birthday trip, so we explored Queensland, the rainforest, the Great Barrier Reef, and then ended in Sydney,” Boz shares.
But Lael didn’t stop there. She also pitched for a milestone gift — her dream car: a Maserati.
Boz listened. And approved.

In last night’s episode of RHOBH, fans watched as a sleek Maserati rolled up outside Boz’s home with Lael standing in total disbelief.
“When her Maserati was delivered, she was overwhelmed and grateful because she hadn’t known if her pitch had been approved,” Boz tells us. “It gives me great joy as a single parent who has raised my daughter alone since she was four years old, to be able to provide gifts that make her dreams come true.”
On-screen, Boz told Lael, “You deserve it,” as the teen hugged her mom through tears. It was a moment that instantly became one of the most heartwarming scenes of the season.
Boz shares Lael with her late husband Peter Saint John, who passed away in 2013, making the milestone even more emotional. For Boz, the Maserati wasn’t just a gift. It was a celebration of resilience, growth, and everything they’ve overcome together.
And for Bravo fans who’ve watched Boz navigate motherhood, grief, career dominance, and now her fertility journey with fiancé Keely Watson, the moment hit even harder.
Aside from Lael’s sweet moment, last night’s episode also showed the 49-year-old and her partner sitting down for a Zoom call with her fertility doctor, Dr. Cindy Duke.
“I have even more intense feelings today than I did when the eggs were retrieved,” Boz said in a confessional. “I am more anxious. I am more excited. I am more nervous. I am more fearful. I am more joyful. All of those feelings have intensified because I know they are embryos who could become children. All of my emotions are on high.”
On the call, Dr. Duke shared some disappointing news.
“We had two eggs. Both of them were successfully fertilized with sperm,” Dr. Duke explained. “Ideally, the sixth day we would want to see what’s called a blastocyst — like a tiny planet that’s capable of implanting in the womb. Unfortunately, neither has made it to the blastocyst stage. Is this entirely unexpected? No. Is it sad and disappointing? Yes.”
“The biggest egg factor unfortunately is the age of the egg,” she continued. “What we can do is try to support them, but there’s nothing we can do to restructure eggs. The big question now is any openness to the idea of using eggs from someone younger, but we only have a finite window. We certainly don’t have another year.”
To no surprise, Boz’s reaction was quite emotional.
“I feel really overwhelmed,” Boz said in a confessional. “Right now I can barely hear anything else beyond the roar in my ears that this hasn’t worked. All of the hopes and dreams and aspirations I had for these two little embryos that I had already started to picture who they were going to become are gone.”
“It feels like grief,” she added. “It feels like losing a baby, because that’s how I envisioned them. These aren’t just inanimate objects out in the world. These are Keely and I’s babies.”
