Thanks to her incredible talent and warm-hearted personality, professional surfer Carissa Moore makes waves both in and out of the water.
The 30-year-old Honolulu native has been riding professionally in the World Surf League (WSL) for the past thirteen years, resulting in a slew of accomplishments that include world championship titles in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019 and more recently in 2021.
“It’s been a dream come true,” Moore told Celeb Secrets reporter Jasmine Vazquez while speaking on her success and latest collaboration with Hurley. “I have a family of sponsors, and it’s really the dream team. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do, travel the world and compete and live my dream as a professional surfer without the support of my sponsors, especially Hurley.”
Detailing that she spends about six months out of the year traveling, training, and competing, the Olympic gold medalist still makes time to raise awareness to the progression of women’s surfing by pushing limits both in and out of the water thanks to new tricks and her non-profit Moore Aloha.
“One of the things that Moore Aloha really tries to encourage is community and finding those other women who you can go out with that will empower you and encourage you to step outside your comfort zone,” Moore said.
Carissa shines as she conquers everything she touches, yet remains grounded by surrounding herself around loved ones and redefining what success looks like to her.
When asked about the real secret to her success, Moore told Celeb Secrets that she becomes the pillars of her foundation by “living authentically, being fearless and leading with love.”
“If I can keep returning back to those things every day, I feel good,” the 30-year-old pro surfer said. “It’s who I am. It will keep me making the right decisions that will hopefully make a positive impact when I meet people.”
Up next for the star surfer is a new capsule collection with the Hurley, which will be available beginning Saturday, March 25. Featuring patterns and prints designed by Hawaiian-based artist Aloha De Mele, Moore says the comfortable yet cute swimwear pieces are made for girls to “feel comfortable in their own skin.”
“[Moore Aloha] is all about empowering young women and girls to chase their dreams, to live fearlessly be kind and compassionate and live with that aloha spirit,” Carissa explained. “Hurley really believed in that, so they wanted to help me create a swimsuit line that helped girls to feel comfortable in their own skin, felt empowered to go out there and do it.”
Proceeds from sales will go towards Moore Aloha, which she says really “brings it full circle.”
