Not many 12-year-olds can say they have starred in a popular show like Chicago Med, worked alongside Tom Hanks in a new film, and founded an organization to help raise awareness for autoimmune disease.Unless of course, you’re St. Louis native, Christopher Farrar.
Although Farrar never really had an “aha!” moment when he discovered his love for acting, he was always told that he would have a knack for it because of his bright and energetic personality, which is why his mom eventually found a talent agency to represent him.
“I wouldn’t say interested [in acting] because I was kind of too young to know,” Farrar shares. “But I was told I always had a lot of personality and made people laugh a lot. I got started in acting because every time my mom and I went into the store people would say ‘He has so much personality, he should be on tv!'”
After signing with St. Louis-based Images Agency, Farrar went out to Los Angeles to attend an industry event where he eventually got about 20 callbacks and has since then added appearances in shows like Jane the Virgin,VEEP, and Chicago Med to his portfolio.
Out of all the acting Farrar has done, his favorite role he’s played has been on Chicago Med as Auggie Roberts, who is the foster-son of Maggie Lockwood and Ben Campbell that suffers from an autoimmune disease, and playing Auggie is what inspired Farrar and his sister to start the Farrar Children Foundation.
“I connected so well with the character,” Farrar said about starring as Auggie. “Being Auggie on Chicago Med brought awareness to me about the autoimmune disease…and inspired me to start my very own foundation called Farrar Children Foundation.”
Farrar has started to make a name for himself and we can only expect even more success for him in the near future.

Celeb Secrets: Hi, Christopher! Thank you so much for chatting with us today. How are you? How has the past year been for you?
Christopher Farrar: “Of course. Thanks for having me. The last year has been pretty chill for me. I got to spend a lot of time back in my hometown with family and friends that I hadn’t seen for a long time. I really missed being in school with friends and hanging out on campus every day.”
CS: For those of our readers who don’t know about you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
CF: “Oh sure! Hi, my name is Christopher Farrar. I’m 12 years old and I’m from St. Louis, Mo. I moved to LA to pursue my acting career. I’m cool, funny, intelligent, nice, and always got the drip. Some things I like to do are drawing, sports, vlogging, and acting of course. I like doing all these things because I enjoy them and it’s a great way to be able to inspire people to do good things.”
CS: You were scouted at an industry event in California, right? Were you always interested in the industry or what sparked your interest in acting?
CF: “Yes, I was scouted at an event called Industry network that I auditioned for through an agency I was with in St. Louis called Images Agency. I wouldn’t say interested because I was kind of too young to know but I was told I always had a lot of personality and made people laugh a lot. I got started in acting because every time my mom and I went into the store people would say “He has so much personality, he should be on tv!” and from there, my mom got me with an agency in my hometown. Then I auditioned to go to LA for Industry Network and had a great experience with about 19 callbacks. I then signed with my manager Artistic Endeavors – Annet McCroskey and she connected me with my agency Coast to Coast Talent Group.”
CS: You’ve been in shows such as Jane the Virgin, VEEP, Chicago Med, and more–they’re all quite versatile shows, what has been your favorite role to play and show to be a part of, so far?
CF: “All were great. My favorite was Chicago Med because I connected so well with the character. Being Auggie on Chicago Med brought awareness to me about the autoimmune disease. Playing the character of Auggie inspired me to start my very own foundation called Farrar Children Foundation.”

CS: You’re going to be in a film starring Tom Hanks that’s coming out in August. Can you tell us a little bit about your role? How was that experience for you?
CF: “Yes, but I really can’t say a lot. The experience was great and really fun. Tom has this autograph journal that he lets all actors that he’s ever worked with sign which was really cool.”
CS: Who would you say is your biggest inspiration, as far as acting goes? Who are some of your favorite actors?
CF: “I would have to say my biggest inspiration without a doubt is Chadwick Boseman. Some of my favorites are definitely Denzel Washington, Charlie Chaplin, Will Smith, Michael B Jordan just to name a few.”
CS: We heard that you started a charity with your sister called Farrar Children Foundation after being inspired by your role as Auggie. That’s pretty incredible! Since it’s still pretty new, what are your goals for the foundation? What do you guys hope to accomplish?
CF: “Yes, so amazing we have some awesome ideas and projects planned. I’m so excited to get things in motion. My main goal is to bring awareness to autoimmune disease, childhood illnesses in children, and relief of poverty for less fortunate children. Just want to put smiles on children’s faces.”
CS: Besides acting, you also enjoy playing sports and are athletic. What’s your favorite sport and who’s your favorite sports team?
CF: “Yes, I love sports. My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite team is the STL Cardinals but Mike Trott is my favorite baseball player.”
