Congratulations are in order for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers – not only did he get named NFL’s MVP for the 2020 season Saturday night (for the third year) but, he also dropped the news that he’s now engaged.
Just a few days ago, multiple sources confirmed to E! News and People that Rodgers, 37, was reportedly dating Big Little Lies actress Shailene Woodley, 29.
Turns out we were all a little late to the party as Rodgers thanked his team and loved ones during his virtual appearance for the NFL Honors broadcast, and mentioned his “fiancée” during the speech.
“Thank you so much, it’s an honor to win this award for the third time. 2020 was definitely a crazy year, filled with lots of change, growth, some amazing memorable moments,” Rodgers said. He then subtly dropped that he got engaged.
“I played some of the best football of my career. So, I’d like to thank first and foremost my teammates for their support, inspiration, protection, and incredible play on the field,” he said and then went on to thank his support team off the field which included “my fiancé.”
Though he didn’t mention Woodley by name, nor personally confirm the dating reports, we’re more than happy to offer our congratulations for the couple.
E! had shared that a source said Rodgers and Woodley wanted to keep “things private and lowkey” and were maintaining a bit of a long-distance relationship with Rodgers finishing the NFL season with the Packers in Wisconsin and Woodley filming for Misanthrope in Montreal. The source also shared that the couple was doing their best to keep in touch and see each other when they had the time.
So, though Aaron and Shailene’s relationship may be new to us, looks like they might have found love in the hopeless year of 2020. Celeb Secrets can’t wait to hear about the wedding!
