Alex Sensation, Álvaro Díaz, Bad Gyal, La Gabi & Nino Freestyle Take Over Wynwood Arts District with Universal Music Latino Showcase in Miami

Latin music’s stars of tomorrow showed off their killer talent and even stronger vocal pipes during the Universal Music Latino Showcase at La Otra on Tuesday (February 22) in Miami, FL.

Produced and presented by Universal Music Latino, the invite-only event was hosted by Lil’ Sabotage and Mike Deuce, who set the bar high the moment the event began by spinning a selection of the most successful current hits in Spanish urban music.

The Celeb Secrets gals were some of the lucky few to score an invite to the exclusive showcase, where we enjoyed music from UML artists like La Gabi, Nino Freestyle, Álvaro Díaz, Alex Sensation and Bad Gyal.

La Gabi was the first of five to hit the stage on Tuesday, bringing her real and innovative rhythms from the Dominican Republic with lyrics that remember short stories of love and heartbreak. The 24-year-old Afro-Latina proved why she became the first artist to be signed by MA G Nation, J Balvin’s music label, as everyone was vibing to her songs “Acapella,” “Asesina,” “La situación” and “Ambiente (medley).”

Following La Gabi was fellow Dominican Nino Freestyle, who got partygoers hyped by performing his 2020 viral hit “Desahogo.” The Jon Z Challenge winner and Soberano Best New Artist winner also sang his new bop “El Toro,” proving that he is bound to make long-lasting impression in the genre with his unstoppable rhymes.

In addition to La Gabi and Nino Freestyle, the 305’s elite were treated to a performance by Álvaro Díaz who sang “Brilloteo,” “Mera” and his mega hit “Problemon,” which has over 20 million streams on YouTube. Alex Sensation — aka the most important Latin DJ in the United States — continued the party by sharing one of his iconic sets to celebrate the culture’s finest music of today and tomorrow.

The night ended with Spanish powerhouse Bad Gyal, who performed some of her most recognizable songs, including “Zorra,” “Flow 2000” and “Fiebre.” Drawing inspiration from reggae, her roots and dancehall, Bad Gyal’s short but memorable set was a perfect display of her unique flow and innovative creativity.
