Andrea Russett and Sean O’Donnell are coming together to create a Snapchat-produced film and Celeb Secrets has the scoop on what you can expect from the first of its kind.
In Sickhouse, a group of social media crazed teens venture into the woods to explore the mystery behind the infamous building and find themselves lost in an eponymous location. After stumbling upon the unsettling settlement, weird things begin to occur leading to severe consequences for all concerned, including the viewers. Just remember to follow the three rules when visiting the Sickhouse – don’t make noise, never go inside, and always leave a gift on the porch.
Unlike the 2015 flick Unfriended, this movie is fully dedicated to give fans the full “social media†effect thanks to the genius mind of Hannah Macpherson. From the cast of real social media personalities to the way it was created, there is truly nothing of its kind.
Celeb Secrets caught up with Andrea Russett this week to talk about the film and what it was like filming it! She also dished on working with Sean O’Donnell, her favorite Snapchat filter, and her summer plans — make sure to take a read at the full Q&A below.
To find out more about the Sickhouse mythology, check out their official site and Facebook page. Sickhouse will be available on Vimeo on Wednesday, June 1.

Celeb Secrets: How did this opportunity come about and what made you decide to take it?
Andrea Russett: “I was approached by indigenous media and when they first explained it to me I was instantly interested. I’m super interested in exploring other social platforms and taking longer content like a full-length movie, to social platforms. It’s very interesting to me and the fact that this is kind of like the first ever made for mobile movie, I couldn’t say no.”
Celeb Secrets: How do you think airing this mobile friendly full-length movie on Snapchat will play out?
Andrea Russett: “I think it will definitely open doors for people to start making contacts on other social platforms. It’s kind of like the guinea pig where we tried it out, and it turned out pretty awesome in my opinion. I think a lot of people are going to be testing new things out because of it.”
Celeb Secrets: What’s it like shooting a movie for Snapchat?
Andrea Russett: “Very very different than anything I’ve ever shot before for sure because with Snapchat, you can only shoot 10 seconds at a time, so you have to pause a lot and getting in and out of character was kind of challenging. Also, it was all shot on an iPhone; there was no big fancy camera, which is crazy!”
Celeb Secrets: How long did it take to shoot the entire movie?
Andrea Russett: “We were shooting in real time so if we had to shoot a lunch scene we would have to wait until noon because it was going live in real time. It was shot over the course over 5 days total.”
Celeb Secrets: How does being a YouTuber play a role in acting?
Andrea Russett: “It’s very different because on YouTube I’m being myself with my own personality, I’m not really acting its just who I am. But I think I enjoy acting that much more for this reason, because acting gives me an outlet and an opportunity to play a character and explore different personalities – it’s fun!”
Celeb Secrets: What was it like working with Sean O’Donnell?
Andrea Russett: “It was awesome! I’ve known him for 4-5 years now, so it was great to work on something with him.”
Celeb Secrets: Can you tell us a bit about the “behind-the-scenes†action?
Andrea Russett: “The house that we filmed at was supposable haunted in real life and throughout the movie a few of the cast members had fake bloody noses [as part of their role] and throughout the movie when we were filming I looked in the mirror and I had a bloody nose! A real life bloody nose and I’ve never had one before… it was crazy!”
Celeb Secrets: Will we be seeing you on the big screen anytime soon?
Andrea Russett: *laughs* “I sure hope so!”
Celeb Secrets: Do you have any summer plans?
Andrea Russett: “I’m really focusing on my acting skills to the best of their ability. I’m really enjoying acting so that’s where my focus is.”
Celeb Secrets: Favorite Snapchat Filter?
Andrea Russett: “The one that makes your eyes really really big and changes eye colors!”
Celeb Secrets: Which actors do you most admire?
Andrea Russett: “Kristen Wiig and Steve Carell.”
Celeb Secrets: Since we are Celeb Secrets, can you tell us a secret about yourself?
Andrea Russett: “I really really like to paint and no one really knows that!”
