Ariel Martin and Trevor Tordjman have been hanging out with us virtually all summer with new videos from their homes and this week, they are giving us an inside look at celebrating Rosh Hashanah.
For those who don’t know, Rosh Hashanah is the celebration of the Jewish New Year. It commemorates the creation of the world and marks the beginning of the Days of Awe, a ten day period that culminates in the Yom Kippur holiday, also known as the Day of Atonement. Rosh Hashanah is considered a “High Holy Day” in the Jewish religion, and Jews all over the world celebrate the world’s genesis with their friends and family.
Some of our favorite Disney Channel stars teamed up with Ariel and Trevor for the latest video, sharing the meaning of the holiday as well as some traditions that are practiced over the course of the two days.
In the promo below, Tobie Windham (Byron from “Just Roll With It”), Raphael Alejandro (Matteo from “BUNK’D“), Elie Samouhi (Elliot from “Upside-Down Magic“), Sky Katz and Jason Maybaum (Tess and Levi from “Raven’s Home“) and Ava Kolker (Olive from “Sydney to the Max“) talk about each tradition, including throwing breadcrumbs into a river called “Tashlich” which means to throw away bad deeds and eating apples dipped in honey to wish for a sweet new year. Elie Samouhi (Elliot from “Upside-Down Magic”) even shows off his “Shofar” which is an instrument used to sound a coming of a new year!
Check out the full video below and let us know if you’ll be celebrating Rosh Hashanah by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sending us a tweet at @celebsecrets.
Rosh Hashanah begins this Friday, September 18th at sundown and continues through the evening of Sunday, September 20th.
