‘Bridgerton’ Star Luke Newton Sets the Record Straight on Season 2

Bridgerton star Luke Newton gave fans an honest update, in an attempt to correct his misleading social media post that sparked rumours about the status of season 2.

Ever since it was announced in January that the regal drama Bridgerton would be renewed for a second season via Netflix, fans have been eagerly anticipating more news on the exact release dates.

Naturally, many of these fans were overjoyed when it seemed as though Newton dropped a hint in an Instagram post.

On Mar. 14 Newton posted a throwback to season 1 on the old-fashioned set of Bridgerton, capturing himself in full costume as Colin Bridgerton while riding horseback. The caption reads, “The boys are back in town.”

He confused his mass of 505k followers by making it seem as though he was already working on creating new episodes on set with a fellow co-star. Although we’re all excited to burn through Bridgerton season 2 as quickly as we made it through the first, the harsh reality is that we’ll have to wait a little longer than Newton made it seem in this caption.

“I must set the record straight,” Newton said at the SAG panel for award nominees. “We haven’t actually started yet…But everyone individually is getting ready and psyched up for Season 2.”

While it’s true we can certainly expect more episodes coming our way sometime in the future, the filming timeline remains unknown.

Since the eloquent balls and detailed romance scenes portrayed in the show require physical connections among large crowds, it makes sense that filming is on hold amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Before learning more about Lady Whistledown’s latest scandals, we will definitely have to exercise some patience.
