After acquiring Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons in exchange for fellow superstar James Harden, the trade has not exactly gone to par for the Brooklyn Nets.
Due to a herniated disc in his back, Simmons has not played a game this season, and today, Nets coach Steve Nash confirmed that this will continue to be the case.
The 25-year-old star has sat out the entire 2021-22 season thus far, first with the 76ers and now with the Nets. Initially, rumors were that Simmons was choosing to sit out due to “mental health issues”, but after he shot these reports down, it has been confirmed that the sit-out is injury-related.

On February 10, 2022, Simmons was traded to the Nets in a blockbuster trade, along with Andre Drummond, Seth Curry and two first-round draft picks. In exchange, the Nets sent James Harden and Paul Millsap to Philly.
Simmons has also been ruled out for the potential play-in tournament, which would be in a couple of weeks should the Nets make it (they’re currently fighting for a spot). In the play-in, the 9th and 10th seeded teams play a quick tournament to determine who will advance. With the Nets currently sitting in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, with two of basketball’s brightest superstars, their appearance in the tournament isn’t exactly a given.
