BTS Performs “Butter” at 2021 AMAs Amid Megan Thee Stallion Drop Out (Watch)

The end of the 2021 American Music Awards  was smooth as.. well, butter!

Global sensation K-pop group BTS closed out the award show with a performance of their award-winning hit “Butter.”

Originally the group was set to perform their remix version with Megan Thee Stallion for the first time. However, Megan broke the news Saturday (November 20) on Twitter that she would unfortunately not be able to make the performance due to an undisclosed personal matter.

Although fans were of course missing their favorite “Hot Girl,” BTS still delivered a killer performance with butter colored suits and smooth as butter dance moves. As the men rocked the stage the crowd went wild, and rightfully so!

The epic end to an unforgettable evening was not the first time BTS took the stage that night.

BTS also performed their collaboration track “My Universe” earlier in the evening with Coldplay. The “My Universe” performance was not one to be missed with great vocals and a more laid-back presence on stage than we normally see from the dancing dynamite group.

Owning the night with BTS ARMY cheering behind them the whole way, it seemed that when the beloved group wasn’t on stage performing they were on stage accepting a well-deserved award!

The K-pop dynamo took home the awards for “Favorite Pop Duo or Group,” “Favorite Pop Song,” (“Butter”) and “Artist of the Year.” While this is the third year they have received the award for “Favorite Pop Duo or Group,” it is the first time they have won the “Artist of the Year” award!

Other notable award winners included Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Drake and so many more! Although Megan Thee Stallion was not able to attend the event, her presence was still alive as ever. The “Body” singer took home the win for “Favorite Female Hip-Hop Artist,” “Favorite Trending Song,” (“Body”) and “Favorite Hip-Hop Album” (Good News). You can view a full list of winners here.

It is safe to say the 2021 American Music Awards was an evening of our favorite names in music receiving all the recognition they deserved!
