After spending the first seven seasons of his career as a member of the Houston Astros, Correa will be playing for a third team as he spent last season with the Minnesota Twins and, of course, now is a part of the Giants.
Correa is coming off of a season in which he had 22 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a batting average of .291, which was the second-highest batting average in Correa’s career.
The 28-year-old World Series Champion will now look to add to the already established winning culture in San Fran alongside manager Gabe Kapler who has done an incredible job of instilling a winning mentality in the Bay Area after being the replacement of long-time Giants manager Bruce Boche; adding a player of Correa’s caliber on the field and leadership ability off the field will only allow Kapler to be even more successful and thus, lead to more wins and postseason trips for the Giants.
When the news broke, a name that began to circulate was Brandon Crawford; Crawford has been a mainstay throughout his 12-year career with the Giants, including winning two World Series titles and being the ultimate professional for the ball club on and off the field; with that said, Susan Slusser of the SF Chronicle took to Twitter to let fans know that Crawford will be moving from shortstop to third-base, this was a huge relief for fans as many thought it could be the end for Crawford in the Bay Area.
Crawford will move to third.
