As Carly Pearce prepares to be officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, the Kentucky-born songstress reflects on what the special moment has meant to her and what is to come.
Pearce will be officially inducted as a member tomorrow (August 3) after receiving the invitation of a lifetime by country music icon Dolly Parton.
In a press interview, Pearce shared that the surprise visit from Parton was one she truly did not expect.
“I thought I was doing a Dollywood commercial,” said Pearce. “They told me that Dolly wanted me to be a part of the new campaign that she was launching, and I was like ‘Yes, please!’ And I heard her high heels coming down the hall, and I freaked out. And even when I saw her, I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s going to do this commercial with me. This is so awesome, like we get to do this together…And then she used the ‘O’ word, and I was like ‘Excuse me. Why are you asking me about the Opry?’ and then she used it again and then she used the ‘O’ word with ‘You should be a member’…and I was like ‘Dolly, if you are not about to say what I think you’re going to say, I don’t know what I’m going to do to you.'”
Luckily for Pearce, Parton said just what she was hoping to hear! As Parton announced that the Opry was going to make Pearce a member officially, the “Next Girl” singer dropped to her knees.
Pearce further explained that the video had to be edited to a high degree because she was “hysterical” over the great news. Rightfully so, Pearce’s reaction serves as not only a response to the offer itself but from who delivered it.
“She [Dolly Parton] to me is just the epitome of class and the epitome of a country music queen and the fact that she took time… she’s never asked someone to be a member, invited them in her fifty years of being a member,” said Pearce. So that makes it even more special that she did that for me.”
With the big day impending, it is tough to say if the moment feels real yet for the woman of the hour! Pearce tells Celeb Secrets Country during the interview what is going through her mind as she prepares for the induction day.
“Oh gosh! I mean, I feel like I’m getting to plan the best day of my life,” said Pearce. “I’m planning the biggest party of my life. Just trying to make a few special moments and working on that. It feels surreal a little bit. I’d be lying if I said I don’t already have my dress.. because I do.”
Pearce also shared with us what is to come for this next chapter of her incredible career.
“I feel like the next few months are gonna be full of.. I’ve been working really hard on more stuff, and I actually get to, without saying too much, I get to almost marry some of those people I talk about from the Opry with my current music in some of the extensions of 29 that I’ve been working on. I’m just excited to get to play shows… I just am so excited to get to say ‘Thank you in person..”
